We were in a tie game, 5-5 with about 8min left in the period (ice hockey btw), and my coach pulls me off, in which I recieved a 20sec shift. This has happened to me so much that, I said forget it, and I decided to sit myself out. We get a few penalties, end in a tie and the coach goes crazy. So anyways I get screwed over cause im on jv/varsity, and the coach feels that since I get to play varsity, that for some reason I should be given less time on JV. So I don't know what to do. Should I just talk to the varsity coach about going to straight varsity? Cause there is a chance he will say yes. What do you think?

Dude what are you bitching about short shifts for? I play hockey myself, and usually, your only suppose to take 30 second shifts. So it's ten less seconds. Is it really a big deal? But if it KILLS you, then yes, talk to the coach.

Your coach must be a jackass. Two minute shifts are way to long, and he should be giving them shit for that. Tell him there are such things as "Short Shifts." Does your team have like, Scoring line 1, scoring line 2, scoring line 3 and checking line? If so, which line are you on?

a shift in ice hockey should not last more than a minute and a half. After such time, the players will get way too winded to continue, no matter what their skill level is. Of course, there are certain exceptions, depending on the manner and style of play that your coach employs...

As for your case, just quit JV. Varsity is more important anyway, and if i was your VARSITY coach, id demand that you play exclusively for varsity anyway. Why risk getting you injured in a JV game?
