I was told to expect EV-DO in june when the Rochester market launches, giving Syracuse, Buffalo and Rochester EV-DO and a much larger market tying all three cities together! I hope that what I was told was correct.

the thing i hope is when it launches all i have to do on my treo's and xv6700 is *228 and evdo will work.....

what do u think ?

thats awesome! i've been waiting to see when ev-do was going to be launched before I bought a new phone. It's also awesome that rochester is getting cricket too. I'm in Buffalo, so I hope it will increase my calling area too :clapping: i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

streaming video, tv, other high bandwidth apps... among other things. it's the other things which i've learned of lately that i'm really interested in

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; Google Wireless Transcoder;))

has anyone heard when pittsburgh is getting evdo?...

thats what i was going to say. i'm in buffalo and i've had cricket personally for 2 1/2 years. i just meant that when rochester gets cricket, i'm hoping the calling area in buffalo will be extended to reach to rochester, to kind of tie them together.

IM an idiot....lol im getting ev-do release dates and cricket market release dates messed up. Im thinking buffalo is going to be a new market, what i ment was ev-do is coming...

Interestingly, today at a car club meet I met a guy who is a network equipment installer contracting for Cricket. I'm taking this with a grain of salt, but he told me that EVDO internet (and very likely tethering...i asked specifically) is coming to Cricket within one to two months. He said he's seen the EVDO switches sitting around ready to be used.

I hope he's right. If cricket can give me data...i'll pay whatever they want.

by now all the markets should be installed and ready to go. like i've said before they are looking for more content partners. i know in ccv evdo was installed and being tested about a year ago... originally i think they were going to launch it here and a couple other markets first, but now i don't know.

A huge question for me is whether this will bring tethered data, or will be stuck on the phone still...

If its stuck on the phone, who cares! If tether...a whole universe of usefulness.
