That some viewers do enjoy Oasis as well as Equator and Treasure. In this case it probably boils down to the revenue created for BEV. Personally I don't have CNN and really would not care to have it in HD or SD. The Canadian national news channels are plenty for me and I would rather have news with a Canadian slant. But to each his/her own I guess. No matter what is carried or dropped, there will always be a segment of viewers who are upset by the decision.
I'd rather see MMOR HD, Showcase HD or National Geographic HD. CNN HD is way down on my list of "must have" HDTV, especially the US service. Then there are the new movie channels being launched this Fall. All more important than CNN IMHO. Not to mention the CRTC.
When I got the HD channels, I looked at Treasure, and Oasis etc and though.. "What's this crap"? But I've actually come to like these channels. They have spectacular HD programing.
I wouldn't oppose an HD CNN channel, but I find the HD news channels are mostly shown in 4:3 with bars on the sides. And really.. What's the advantage of watching talking heads on a wide screen.
It's better to feed your knowledge hunger from foreign news sources. CNN is somewhat linked to The White House. It's mostly propaganda from Mr. Bush's ironic fundamentals. I would go with France24 and PBS.
I'm tired of watching any TV news sources. They all appear to be very shallow and slanted. That is particularly true of most US news services. CNN was once one of the better services but has slipped considerably in recent years. I hear their international service is better but the CRTC hasn't approved that so we don't get to see it. Why Canadians have more US news services than any other (including Canadian) eludes me. It's not like increased US propaganda is protecting Canadian culture.
news services definately report to serve there own needs, you'll get no argument here, hense the old saying don't believe everything you hear (or watch for that matter now).
