Clutch problem new car??!!!.................help please......?

I jus got a new mahindra scorpio vlx today...while driving the car the clutch got stuck and the gear was not changing..........i mean it could not be moved......then later i somehow pushed the gear up n then it started workin again.......is this a major fault....could someone suggest wat had happened...
