That sucks. I hope you get it soon.
I've never heard of them postponing shipping for that long. :look:

I am sooo mad at Amazon. I placed a pre-order for the Blu-Ray disc which was released last week. But, they sent me an e-mail saying it wouldn't ship to me until July 8th. Umm... WTF! I pre-ordered the DVD and it's in-stores but I won't get it for another month. Sadly, I had to cancel my order. And I was really looking forward to watching it today... my only day off.

As long as they realize there is such a thing as stabilization with video cameras, I would watch the sequel.

i just finished watching it like 5 mins ago. the classic monster takes over Manhattan story done with a handy cam. a bit disorienting imo, with the shakes and bumps, etc.
i like the originality of the camera work, from the first person point of view, which could be yourself in the city going through what they went through. though the Blair Witch Project series of movies used this style of camera work also, i haven't seen those to this day, i will soon, just because i'm a movie buff.
anyway back to the movie. i enjoyed it more than i thought i would, even though overall i didn't like it that much. mainly i suppose because the "monster takes over city" concept has been done to death.

hmmm... this is interesting to know after watching the movie. i knew there was something that kept me watching it for more than 10 mins. i'm glad i did, though the first 15 minutes or so of the movie was too slow paced for my liking.

Thanks for that link Nikki! That was a great read, and sums up why I loved the movie too

I totally didn't notice the Dharma symbol on the tape, but that's brilliant! Now I'm half-expecting to see it somewhere on the Enterprise, that'd be hilarious

Yep, you saw that right! Gotta love JJ. ;)

Exactly! I think the movie showed us everything we (the audience) needed to see/know. Going back would be corny and let's be honest... it won't compare to the original. It's not necessary... IMO.

Ok I'm not insane, we rented it tonight and the Dharma logo does appear

Exactly, which is my biggest problem with the sequel too. It just wouldn't have the same impact and be as effective if they decided to continue the story, and I think it'd take away from the originality and impact of the first one. Sure, we don't know why the monster was there, where it came from or what happened next, but we don't really need to, and besides, doesn't that make the whole thing more un-nerving? Leave it as it is!

I loved Cloverfield, and I firmly believe that it reinvented its genre, partly due to the script, the camerawork (which was AWESOME) and the entire way the concept was executed. Brilliant.

I watched this a few weeks back and loved it. :)

A sequel? Not sure about that. :goof:

The news broke of a sequel after the first week's opening numbers. It was very obvious it was going to get a sequel. It's monster movie in the city... it has limitless possibilites. But, IMO... it's not necessary, because everything that needed to be said, was in the movie. And what we didn't know made sense... because it was the only footage recovered from that day. I honestly thought the whole point was...when the footage ends, so does the movie.
