cloverfield is godzilla 2

there's rumors going around the net that cloverfield is the sequel to godzilla from the 90s.

so if this is true cloverfielRAB is actually godzilla 2 and the person writing the film is the same guy who writes lost.

I thought Godzilla was an almighty flop (although I enjoyed it). Why would anyone want to do a sequel?

It won't be a Godzilla flick.

Toho Company who own the rights of Godzilla have retired him and all rights to him till 2013, this has been well known for a while now.

And there is also the fact Abrams has said in interviews that he wanted America to have it's own legendary monster just like Japan who has Godzilla as it's monster Idol, which would make the upcoming film a great oppertunity for him to do just that.

as Dragonic said Abhams already stated it's not Godzilla and that America needed it's own monster which I'm pretty pleased about as I was disappointed with Godzilla
