I'm new to Palm OS? 5.4 or any Palm in general really... How do you close applications you have used?

Oh, and how long it takes to fully charge T5's battery? It doesn't show when it's ready... :(

Welcome to the World of Palm!

To close an application, just open another application or go to any category, such as "Main" or "All." If you're attaching a Note to any entry, such as in Calendar, Tasks, or Memo, be sure to tap the "Done" button to save that note. Then, just open another application. Normally, there is no dedicated "Save" command as in Windows.

On the T5, the initial charge is supposed to be for 3 hours. After that, the T5 User's Manual suggests charging for 1/2 hour every day. A lot will depend on how much you use your T5, which features you activate (e.g. having Bluetooth active increases battery draw), and how bright you set your screen lumination. You'll have to keep an eye on your battery level icon at the top of your Main Screen to determine how often you should charge your T5.. ... I charge my T3 every 3-4 days for about 15-30 minutes in the cradle and my Treo 650, which is my primary Palm device, daily for about the same amount of time. The Treo is charged each morning before I head off to work because I also perform a HotSync, which also retrieves email and updates my AvantGo. ... Hope this helps.

That's the great thing about the Palm OS: it was designed with efficiency in mind from the ground-up. Most things are usually no more than two or three taps away, and it still manages to keep an intuitive interface.

When you're in an application and you tap "Home", it closes the application as expected. When you want to load an application, it's almost always instant.

Whereas in the Windows OS, the "X" actually minimizes the application, chewing up available memory and causing performance issues. I have no personal experience with this, but apparently you have to jump through hoops to actually "close" a program on the Windows PPC OS.

Some PPC apps will actually close when you tap the X, but many will minimize. There are a few PPC apps available that make it relatively easy to close minimized apps, so it isn't really jumping through hoops-- but it isn't as easy as just tapping the X or, better yet, launching another app.
