Okay... not 2 minutes ago I saw a documentary showing a scientist taking ice samples from the arctic. He showed how air gets trapped in the ice, and how we take samples from the ice near the top to show what the quality of air was like hundreds of years ago. He said that using methods like this, they can prove that Earth does indeed go through cycles.
However, he also said that these ice records clearly show the level of greenhouse gases has increased significantly since the start of the industrial revolution. Moreso than any warming cycle that they have found in the ice.
Despite ice age and warming cycles, the level of greenhouse gas today is greater than in the past 600,000 years (can't remember the exact number, but it was something close to a million years).
Okay... this is new information to me, but apparently this information has been known for years. What exactly is the "cycle" argument people sitting on that suggests we aren't going into a more significant climate change than ever before? Or is this Discovery Channel documentary blatantly lying to me or trying to brainwash me?
