Why is climate change the biggest threat that humanity faces?

It threatens to change life as we know it for the worst. Global warming is making animals smaller/extinct, increasing heat wave deaths, rising sea levels, diminishing agriculture etc. ie. all the bad stuff you could possibly think of. That includes political/social factors such as nuclear war, mass starvation, civil wars etc.

A shift in climate zones toward the poles will force a shift in arable land and precipitation patterns. Sources of fresh water, near where most people live will be challenged. The basic needs of humans and other creatures will be taxed as the regions which now optimally provide for these things move or disappear entirely.
