Clicking- popping in my throat when I swallow

I have an issue that started last year, but very seldom..
now its all the time the last 3 weeks.
when I swallow I get a popping in my throat , i can feel the bone in my throat move when it happens.
its the left side by my adams apple..
it hurts when it happens, and mostly freaks me out!
I have read a few posts ina closed thread form 4 years ago, and no one knew thew answer to the problem.
What is causing it??

its becoming an issue where I cannot sleep comfortably becuase I find myself always swallowing when I lay down..then my throat feels like it closes up as well..

help!! lol
 
Do you have problems with your jaw clicking/popping when you open and close it? I get a clicking in my throat sometimes when I swallow and it's because of my bad jaw (TMJ to be specific)
 
WIsh I knew the answer. Mine started doing that about 6 weeks ago and it is driving me crazy. It is CONSTANT. In addition from time to time depending on which way my head is turned it's like I can't swallow at all, like the throat closed up. I either gotta move my head a bit or massage my neck and then it gets "unstuck" I also started burping a lot since this happened. Not sure if it is reflux, or because I have to swallow twice to get the food/liquid down.

The ENT looked down my throat and didn't see anything

I do have severe whiplash and TMJ from 10 years ago, so perhaps something flared up? Or it is the onset of reflux?

At least I am not alone...lol
 
I have vocal cord dysfunction associated with GERD and get the same feeling when I lie flat, so you might want to ask your doctor about tests for VCD/reflux to help you figure it out. Do you also have trouble breathing as well when you lie down?
 
I do not have any issues when I lay flat only while sitting up actually..

I do not have active acid reflux .. I did have Gerd several years ago, but its been quite a long time and have no reoccurrance

it seems to be worse after I eat , for a while then it calms down and goes away after an hour more or less
