Clay helps my son a LOT!

When my son was 11 he started getting a lot of pimples so I decided to try giving him Bentonite clay. It has worked so well that I thought I should share our experience here, in case it might help someone else. I originally got the Bentonite at a local health/vitamin store, and I don't know where it came from. That store has closed, so now I have gotten some from a website, but you have to buy at least a 5 gallon bucket from that site, so you can see that I have been pleased with the results, since I have bought so much. The clay we are using now is classified as a calcium montmorillonite, (bentonite and montmorillonite are often used interchangeably) but it has sodium bentonite in it, too,

He takes it internally. You can mix the powder with water or juice, but it is nasty to drink, so I put it into capsules. I push as much clay as I can into the larger half of a double OO empty capsule and put some into the top but not too much to let the two halves close all the way. At first he was taking 3 capsules a day, but after about a year we raised it to 5 a day because he was starting to get pimples again, and the pimples went away again on the larger dose. 5 capsules have about a teaspoon of powder in them.

He takes them right away on an empty stomach when he gets up with at least 8 ounces of water and waits at least 15 minutes before he eats to give the clay time to leave the stomach. He takes his vitamins after he eats. If he was taking medication I would try to have him take the medication at least an hour after the clay so that the clay won't absorb the medication. They say the clay absorbs toxins in the digestive tract, and it can absorb vitamins or medications, too, if you take them too close together.

I know that clay has a sort of "snake oil" aura; you see all sorts of claims being made about it, but I can definitely say that it can help acne. We noticed a difference in less than a week and continued improvement over the next month or so. At first if he missed a day, some pimples would come back, but now that he has been taking it for over 1 1/2 years it doesn't make much difference if he misses sometimes, but he hardly ever misses because he knows what it does for him and he is motivated to remeraber. (He is 13 now) He only gets about 1 pimple a month now, most of the time he doesn't have any.

I understand that it can help if you use it externally, too, but we haven't tried that. Some people who have worse pimples or who are older might need a larger or more frequent dose, but you should gradually increase the dose and make sure you take a lot of water and have a lot of fiber in your diet because I have read that it can cause constipation, but we haven't had any trouble with that (My husband and I are taking it now, too, to see if it can help with other problems). There is a lot of information available on the internet, some of it conflicting. Some sites say you shouldn't take it internally, but it is classified GRAS (generally regarded as safe) You do need to make sure you are getting clay that is pure enough for internal use. The site or store you buy it from will tell you if it is suitable for internal use. Reputable companies will give you a mineral analysis of their clay if you ask for it. The site I bought from sent it with the order without my asking.

Since the first post more merabers of my family have had success with the clay. Today my 24 year old daughter called to ask me for more clay. She started on it about 2 months ago and now she only gets a few little pimples and none of the larger ones. I think she will continue to see improvement as she continues to take it. I wish I had known about this when she was a teen. My 14 year old niece also started a few months ago and is having good results.
