It's a Wonderful Life.

Having been assured by so many people that this was the ultimate, feel-good Christmas movie and that it was an absolute "must-view" I bought it on DVD and watched it last December.

Didn't see what all the fuss was about to be honest. I thought it was boring, at least half an hour too long and I found I just didn't care all that much about the main character. Maybe it's because I knew how it was going to end, or maybe it's because I had such high expectations of it, but I'll never be watching it again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

At least I've ticked it off the "films you shold see before you die" list!

Ha ha, have to agree with this!

OK- has been done before in different guises but are there any classics you just dont "get" despite everyone else raving about them??

Me:

Apocalypse NOw- seen it several times, NEVER gonna like it:o

Forrest Gump- patriotic sentimental twee crap in my opinion:rolleyes:

Bridget Jones - terrible to admit you dont like this if you're a girl I find Bridget a simpering idiot and Colin Firth's D'arcy does NOTHING for me (totally bland, dull, dependable fantasy man for women with no imagination)

Fantasia- The film is incredibly impressive as an acheivement (especially the Sorceror's Apprentice) bit. But the film is far too long, and after a while i just feel the film is mainly an ego project by Walt Disney, who wanted to use it as a monument to himself and to prove to himslef and others that 'see, i can be highbrow'

Grease
- A film that's popular with women even though it seems very misogynistic. Sandy is a sweet virginal girl who has a summer romance with Danny. But surprise she enrols at his school, and whilst he's happy he is in the T-birRAB and can't date her because he's got a reputation to keep up, and he can only go for edgy girls not Doris Day types. So Sandy constantly gets teased for her image and not 'putting out' (the 'Look at Me I'm Sandra Dee' song). So come the end Sandy buckles to the pressure and becomes slutty and pretenRAB to be something she's not to win Danny.

The films always seems to say to me 'girls if that guy you like doesn't like you for who you are, change and allow yourself to be moulded into whoever he and your peer pressure frienRAB want you to be'.....I can't like a film that says that.

2001 a space odyssey - Don't mind the middle bit with HAL but the rest bores me to tears in all honesty.

Most Kubrick films tend to leave me feeling cold actually.

Id say Top Gun was an 80's classic. One of Tom Cruises most iconic role. So a classic of sorts yes.

Bridget Jones?? Well yes, not a "classic" in a way... but I assume you're not a woman?? This film is adored and beloved by women everywhere and for a female to say she doesnt like it is a shocker in female company believe me!!

Agreed on Deep Impact anyway!:D:D

Tbf Danny changes too, becomes a 'jock' and turns his back on his greaser image to win the girl, so all is well.

I'll go for A Clockwork Orange. Childish dialogue that makes me want to commit some ultra-violence on everyone in the film who uses it. Rubbish.

hahahaha!! When I saw the musical YEARS ago I said this to my best friend. Here response? "For goRAB sake, its Grease!!"

But I concur- I still agree with your sentiments.

Never liked that film.
