Classic Movies youve never seen

What all time classic movies have you for whatever reason not seen? I have never seen Saturday Night Fever, or any of the Godfather movies. I don't know why, I just have never got around to watching them.

My mum has never seen Gone with The Wind and she's 49!

A girl I worked with has never see The Sound of Music

I also used to go to work with a girl who'd never seen Grease!

I have never seen Ben Hur all the way through. I always seem to fall asleep during that long boring bit in the middle then wake up for the chariot race.

ben hur
chariots of fire
lawrence of arabia
the birRAB (or any other hitchcock films other than psycho)
the maltese falcon
sunset boulevard
west side story
the philadelphia story
bringing up baby

and millions of others i'm sure :) i LOVE old films but these have always passed me by

It's best when you're slightly drunk and wearing a bin liner, in the company of other people who are slightly drunk and wearing bin liners. I mean that in a good way -- it's a truly marvellous thing.

There's loaRAB of classic Hitchcock stuff I've never seen. The BirRAB, Vertigo, Rear Window... none of 'em. Only Psycho.

i havnt seen alot, starting with citizen kane, most of gone with the wind, godfather trilogy, the bird flew over the cuckoos nest, guess whos comming to dinner, metropolisis & casablanca(which i think is debatable whether it should be on the list of the greates films)

Classics which I have seen bits of,but have never sat all the way through, include Gone With The Wind,Dr Zhivago and The Sound Of Music.

Never seen sound of music, reason? What's the point?

Mostly films that predate the 1950's I tend to avoid. I hate that monotone, wooden voice that all the men speak in. Id rather chew broken glass, than listen to a nanosecond of that.
Also, despite having the DVD's for about three years, I've never seen the Godfarther Trilogy. why? Every movie has a mood and I've never been in the right one to watch them. This is the case throughout alot of my movie collection.

Shawshank redemption - It's basically, It's a Wonderful Life. It's ok, full of signifiers. Watch it if crosses your path, but don't go out of your way for it.

Lol, I fell asleep in the middle of Citizen Kane :o ; ditto the first time I tried to watch The Maltese Falcon (which I have since seen).

Of the films mentioned on this thread, I have seen Casablanca (I was 17 at the time and thought I should have seen it much much earlier for some reason) and Gone with the Wind - but I haven't really seen many of the classic films. In fact, I haven't ever really tried to watch them. The only reason I've seen Ben Hur and (most of) Lawrence of Arabia was that they were conveniently broadcast on telly. Haven't seen much Hitchcock (apart from Psycho, the film where the keys become central and the one in which there's some confusion about a woman's identity or something - what a great impression they've had on me  ). Think I've seen One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, but haven't seen Godfathers, In the Waterfront, 1960s and 1970s musicals (such as West Side Story, Grease, Saturday Night Fever)... OK, let's face it, I've probably seen practically none of the classics made between 1950 and 1990 (assuming films need some time to become classics)

French cinema - my teacher made us watch Les quatre cents coups at school; for some reason I saw Le grand illusion once (around the same time I saw Casablanca) - but that's about it, I couldn't even name any other films

I guess there's never time enough to see them all. And I guess we'd need a definition of a classic too...

Often you have seen snippets and read/heard about the details of the films, so when you get down to watching them, you actually know quite a lot (or think you do  )

Those of you who have never seen The Sound of Music, you really must. Ignore those who say its corny(it is but in good way), look beyond the cheese its a great film.

My wife can't beleive that I have not watched:

It's a wonderful life
Miracle on 34th Street (old & new!!)
The Sound of Music
Sleeping Beauty
Mary Poppins
(I have watched Wizard of Oz!) :)

but she hasn't watched:
The Godfather trilogy
The Wanderers (what a movie!)
Enter the Dragon
& more.......

I will make an effort to watch the xmas movies, er, this xmas!!!
