Classic Films You Didn't Enjoy

Are there any 'must see' films that you just didnt enjoy that everyone elses seems to rave about? You know, the likes of It's A Wonderful Life, Breakfast At Tiffanys, Star Wars, The Shawshank Redemption etc.

I love the idea of Casablanca and the romance that surrounRAB it, I also love the classic quotes from the film, but the film itself I just found really boring!

Most classics leave me feeling underwhelmed, perhaps because they have so much hype to live up to....

The main ones are probably 2001: A Space Odyssey (which I admire but don't enjoy) and The Godfather films.

Oh, how could I forget - Lawrence of Arabia.

My Fair Lady - I turned it off after about forty minutes because Audrey Hepburn was getting on my nerves. I really just wanted someone to give her a hard slap.

lol so much blasphemy.
but i agree.

some films were ground breaking for their time, influencing future films. but when you go back to watch them its not that enjoyable even if its educational. comedy esp suffers. chaplin is definitely not lol funny for todays people.

I hated Raging Bull.It was more like raging bullshite to me.

Gladiator? I'd be glad if it was never made.

And as for you people slagging off Blade Runner,I know where you live and I will be sending Roy Batty replicants around to your house to break your fingers!

The Philadelphia Story.

I found Hepburn, Grant, and Stewart oddly unlikeable and unsympathetic. Grant and Stewart are among my favourite classic actors but in this film they left me cold. I have no clue why. I also found it really slow and a hard watch in general. I was very disappointed because it's such a hyped up film.

Yet I love the remake version of the story, the musical High Society.

Weird.

2001: A Space Odyssey.

After the HAL bit I started watching on fast forward, think it's the only film i've ever stuck on fast forward just to make it to the end, being honest I was bored to death. I have to say though, The Shining and Full Metal Jacket aside i'm really not a huge Kubrick fan.

The Evil Dead. I've watched a lot of movies that didn't live up to hype, but that was the biggest letdown ever.

I can see why Blade Runner would have been revolutionary, but it hasn't aged well at all, unlike some other science fiction from a similar era.

Annie Hall and Taxi Driver were decent, but they didn't quite live up to all the praise lavished on them.

The Godfather.......what a pile of c***.
I love it when people ask "What's better, the first or the second one?" and I reply "Oh I can't choose between them", they say "Oh I know what you mean, they're both great!", to which I can say "Er no, they're both s***".

The Shawshank Redemption is also highly overrated, like all Stephen King stuff.
