Classic films due a modern remake.

I agree remakes are a bad idea. But I have always thought It Happened One Night would be good for an update.

I can see it working quite well in my head but would probably not work on screen, which is the problem most movie producers have

Is that the one with the German soldiers in a Romanian Castle?,
I have never seen the original (I think its got Gabriel Byrne in it.)

*Just looked it up, I think it is.......have you Seen 'The Bunker'?

I don't think I've seen it but I could be wrong!

And yes The Keep has Gabriel Byrne and Jurgen Prochnow in. It missed out so much from the book though that it really neeRAB a decent remake :)

The first half of The Keep was good enough - they should just remake the second half and leave out the hokey rubber monster!

How can I get to see this film?,
I have looked on amazon and they don't sell it. :(
I am into soldiers V supernatural things..........it makes a good film.

difference is tho if they put a difference slant on it, rather than remaking the film word for word or scene for scene
seems pointless and a waste of money imo

I love that film! I'd hate to see it remade, I can't see it being done as well as the original, I think it would have to be changed a fair bit to make it work today

That's been on the carRAB many times but it's never happened. I know John Carpenter is a big fan and has been interested in doing it for years - he used the pseudonym Martin Quatermass in the past when he wrote Prince of Darkness, essentially an homage to Nigel Kneale. I'm sure I read recently that the story involving stone circles and people being 'harvested' from space is in the works for a big screen or TV remake.
I'd like to see a new big budget Quatermass series other than the BBC Four effort.

In general remakes are a bad idea, the horror genre seems to be the target of late with soon to be releases of the omen and the hills have eyes.

It would be great if John Carpenter remade the original Halloween. Apparently Carpenter was approached in 2003 to remake Halloween but he turned the offer down. I'm sure that if Carpenter did remake Halloween, he could make it so much scarier than the original and maybe make a few changes to the storyline.
Speaking of Halloween, is there any news on the next Halloween film Halloween 9?

I hope not as all of the sequels have been progressively worse. Halloween is a classic as it helped kick start the slasher genre (see also Black Christmas which, quelle surprise, is getting a remake) but Michael Myers should be laid to rest permanently IMO.
