Classic Chart Show Showing On The Vault 356

Eh???? Now we're getting the first part again! And the blank song titles, clearly indicating that the annoying competition details will be popping up again.................

If it was the case of paying money to the Video Licencing company, then the Vault channel wouldn't expect to show the same 3 episodes again and again. I think its probably more due to technical problems, in terms of playing the episodes. As you know they've only got episodes from 1991-92 and 1996-98 that are playable. The other years (1986-1990 and 1993-95) they would have to convert the formats, so that they can play it on the channel. That obviously will cost them alot of money.

I'll take a guess and say Saturday, December 27, 1997. Pure guesswork, but there was probably no normal chart that week, with Christmas (The Spice Girls would have been at #1, with Too Much had there been a chart, having entered at #1 the previous weekend). The next Saturday date would have been January 3, 1998 and surely there would have been a new chart by then? It seems a bit late to do a review of 1997 as late as that...

It is pure guesswork though, so I could be wrong.

Before You Were Removed On Youtube, You had Alot Of Chart Show Vids.

What Happened?

And I Will Get Into Any Trouble With MY Chart Show Vids?

I notice today's scheduled episode of The Chart Show didn't go out. I'm guessing after 2 months of showing the same 3 episodes, they've given up on it again.

Well I have been proven wrong by both of my main criticisms - a new episode was shown today (Thursday), and it was a massive improvement from last week's.

A Flaunt Dance Chart appeared this week. I'm assuming that the specialist charts will now be "accompanied" by the appropriate CSC channel, such as the Scuzz Rock Chart. No idea about what they'll do about the Indie Chart if NME has their own...

Saturday, 22 February, 1997, today, and what a really poor time for music. Apart from Sash!, I usually like the Dance Chart editions most, but that week was awful.

Well, it's true, if they were able to show episodes all the way from 1986-1998 and ran a decent promotional campaign they'd probably have more than enough viewers to keep it on air. But they wouldn't pay to have the episodes transferred or run promotions UNLESS there was a decent amount of viewers. Obviously, this sort of thing is true anywhere in big business unfortunatly.

Part of the problem is lack of promotion. Prior to launch, the trailer they ran was only shown once every 2 hours which would be quite easy to miss (it also made no mention of the 5PM Thursday showing), and the trailers they ran for individual episodes (the 1998 Valentines episode and the 1997 Special) were shown so infrequently I only saw them a handful of times- and I have The Vault running in the background most of the day.

They should do a "make or break" thing- run a decent promotional campaign (trailers 2 or 3 times an hour- possibly run them on the other Chart Show owned channels too), introduce a showing during the 9-11PM timeslot on one weekday (possibly move the Thursday showing) and see what happens- if it works, it works. If it doesn't, they'll (sadly) have to take them off.

OR at least, shove it into the doldrums- somewhere around 3-4AM. If The Vault is like most other channels (I don't know, I've never actually watched them at this time) they won't be running adverts, therefore viewing figures aren't really as important, and they could at least keep them running for us who enjoy them, where we could record them to watch later. That is if it would be considered cost effective to transfer & edit the episodes just to shove them in such a timeslot- which it might not be.

You know I have that issue in my pile in the loft. I think the mag was called Amiga Computing International. The Chart Show graphics were on the front cover.

Haven't seen The Ofiicial Top 40 or Hit40UK on TV this week but maybe there isn't a Cliff video. On these charts they mention this but I've noticed on Chart Show TV they just miss them out as there are no voiceovers (unlike The Old Chart Show when they used to play the song with a picture or film for a few seconds). I noticed the other week though Eric Prydz was No1 on the Dance Chart but missing from The Top Ten.

That's definitely a rarity. Thanks for uploading and it certainly would have made sense to stick with those icons. I never saw that edition broadcast but on seeing the one the following week I can remember being rather confused and asking my dad what Pepe was.
