Classic Chart Show Showing On The Vault 356

It's back!!!! YES!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Only just saw this thread though. So is this one on now is the third of the second comeback? I've only missed 2 from last weekend so far right? Please tell me I've only missed 2.

My little boy aged 4-1/2 (and me) were heartbroken on Saturday. It's a big thing in our house, cuddle up on the sofa with drinks and popcorn to listen to some really c**p songs from days gone by .....

I really hope Saturday was a mistake, it's my best bit of viewing all week!

P.S. I paid

The chart show channel may only be showing the same three shows due to the record companies. If I remember rightly didnt the chart show have a ongoing dispute with the Video Licencing company about the fee for showing the short clips in the top ten? Perhaps some record companies are objecting to their videos being replayed on the show as they may get a very small if any fee depending on contract clause.

So maybe these three are the only ones they can get full clearance on at the moment or The Chart Show don't think it is value for money to pay record companies for putting on an old show. If they show a three minute video on the vault for a fee but showing ten videos in a top ten and only play three they will still have to pay for showing all ten even the ones they show some for 5 or 10 secs.

Did it last that long? I always thought it ended by the end of the 90's. Basically, to add to Robbie01's points. It was a 6 hour show, the same show every night for one week but it would alternative the content every night. So it would have one hour of one genre etc and rotate. I think I have some on tape but judging on the amount of tapes I have and how I don't index them or put stickers on the cassettes, I don't think I find it quick!

Yes that a great idea Jason:) Then would be ble to see the best era of the chartshow 1993 - 1995. I love this era because it was when britpop was at it's peak and dance was still good as well.

The Chart Show was great; I loved how they did a Rock chart every third week... as a teenage grunger I would sit with my finger poised on the record button in case a band I liked was played!

I'm sure I have shows from 1994/5 on video somewhere.

They recently launched a "no repeats in 24 hours" policy, so that's likely the reason. They were running a promotion saying as such, but that seems to have stopped now.

I believe this episode is 27/9/1997, so Gaz, your estimate is a bit out.

Edit: Notice this edition was only 50 minutes, presumably this was one of the weeks there was Formula 1 on. I feel cheated :p . If it's any consolation, I worked out what the (blurred out) phone number for the competiton was- 0891 144 111 if anyone wants to ring ;).

Anyway, I'm off to watch the "Spice Up Your Life" programme on ITV that the Chart Show has just told me about. What? I've missed it by 9 1/2 years? Bugger

Today a YouTube user (who has thankfully mentioned to me about this) has discovered a bittorrent website, that includes chart show episodes that are being sold on Ebay. Please do not buy any chart show episodes from July 1988, June 1990, September 1990, February 1992 and December 1995 on ebay, as these chart show episodes are available free on btjunkie.org

If you are buying them, you're getting ripped off, because some people are downloading them and selling them on ebay for money. In my eyes, they're ripping off people !!!

PS: The quality is not that fantastic, as I have downloaded these episodes from btjunkie.org

Looks like October 25th 97 today- are they running them in order, then?

Edit: Ooh! We got the Video Visuals caption at the end, that's a first!

Funnily enough, the same eBay member was offering me the last episode of Going Live on DVD but incomplete. I've also found THAT on the same site.

Thank you very much for bringing this up Razdan!

Just get a cheap dish & FTA reciever- Eurobird 1 (the satellite The Vault comes from) is easily recievable in France (in fact, over most of Europe), and the channel is FTA.

Makes me wonder how unorganized CSC really are if it takes them almost a fortnight to make a new episode. I'm aware of the self-constructed chart, but they didn't even have Cliff in the Singles Charts... everybody knows he was in the charts this week!

There is a website that has over 100 free chart show episodes from 1986 to 1998. The website can be found on TheBox (www.thebox.bz). Its free to register and free to download. Its like a private bittorrent website. I would not recommended buying from people chart show episodes, as most or all of them are downloaded from that website anyway. Also the website has TOTP episodes from all decades and other British TV Programmes :):D

Found this on Wikipedia:

"In 1997, The Verve had refused to allow the Chart Show to show the video for their single Lucky Man. When the song was mentioned in the top ten and in the indie chart, a message was shown on the screen explaining that they refused to let the video appear on the show, unless the ITV Chart Show logo was changed."

WTF? And what did HUD stand for?
