Classic Chart Show Showing On The Vault 356

I think the 1992,1996 & 1997 specials have been shown on The Vault before so it will probably be one of those. The 1992 special was the first Classic Chart Show to be shown on The Vault back in 2006.

After watching in full, last week's is almost certinally the 11th January 1992. Even though all the songs in the Chart News section point to it being the previous week, Bohemian Rhapsody is in its 5th week at Number one, so it couldn't possibly have been any other week.

I'll be able to properly date this week's on Thursday providing the Satellite people don't postpone again ( ) or I'll have to get my dad to record it again.

Well "next week's" show has appeared on Wednesday at midday. If the music is still awful for the next week or so, I don't think I'll be watching it very much.

I see music promoter Dylan White is campaigning for return of Top of the Pops.

Perhaps he could also campaign for the return of the chart show to one of the big five channels.:)

I wasn't a big Top of The Pops fan because it sometimes showed the acts couldnt actually sing or mime well and it sometimes put you off a record which actually was good when all the production had been done on it.

It probably will be- I can't see the nature of what's in the charts changing any time soon. And of course, they'll be filling the show with what is popular.

One note as well- in 10 days time it will be the 10th anniversiary of the last ever edition on ITV.

The Vault repeats are pretty much dead; they haven't been on for ages. I'm seeing the CSTV version now and again, so I'm guessing it's still going.

It looks like now that the only way to look out for chart show vids is either on Youtube or Myspace. The Vault once again has let down its viewers again and again (no surprises there  !!!!)

Yeah, I wondered about that too.

Mastermix are hardly Sony BMG, are they ????

I can understand major record labels getting shirty about Michael Jackson and Mariah, but fricking Jive Bunny ........

My least favourite were the Twix In Space/ Twix Spacestation ones they were bland and didn't promote anything about the show, unlike the fairground ones which showed the various charts or the pepe ones which at least the rockets had numbers on indicating a chart countdown, the twix in space ones just flew around looking lost in the sky for 30 seconds.

Also the ones between jan 93 and mid 93 when they didnt have a sponsor were obviously hastily put together I suspect Pepe dropping of their sponsorship was sudden if you watch the 1993 opening ones they didn;t really look very well edited at the beginning they would have been better leaving the Pepe rocket in and just removing the Pepe name and perhaps just putting the Chart Show logo on the back.

I'm pretty sure I've got the date for this one- May 2nd 1998, pretty much at the tail end of the show's run then. I really hope we get some editions from the mid 90s though, we haven't had any yet.

Having just watched a Jan 1998 show on Benriggers myspace page i noticed that they gave away a "Chart Show Sweatshirt" I wonder how many were made and if anyone who stumbles across this page had one. They must be worth something. I wonder if the winner dared wear one in the street complete with large "headphones" on the front.

I won a t-shirt on a competition on Viking radio in 1992 I still to this day have never gone out in it it had Viking on the front and Sidney's record shop on the back

No-one else ever remembered them, they only existed in my memory, but here they are at last they existing again. I wasnt just imagining them. :D

I also remember they used the dancing silhoettes sped up in the indie chart once.

Well most of the clips on Youtube are specialist charts and Top Tens - just two features of the whole show, so if it is an excuse, it'd be quite pathetic in my opinion.

No, it was a kids show, with an animated dragon. It was live, using computers to sync the mouth movements. Tune into Pop (the kids channel owned by Chart Show TV) and he's on there, only he's called Rorry now and has a totally different voice.

It's a shame as the CSC group channels could be different from the rest and unique if they tried but it seems everyone wants to be smash hits.

Even VH1 has gone down the smash hits road
