Classic Chart Show Showing On The Vault 356

I must admit, as a very nostalgic person, I remember the show vaguely when I was younger, but thanks to Youtube, I really like The Chart Show. Never seeing the repeats was a bit of a bummer but I found out on Tuesday they were brought back - only to find out they weren't actually on.

I'm just hoping it's a case of they've moved the showings to Wednesdays and it's not a to-be-changed error.

The timeslots were a big problem. Most people who would be interested in the Chart Show would be at least in their 20s. Saturday morning was not an ideal time for the catchment audience. I know why they put it on that time but there should have been an evening slot without question.

The Chart Show's heyday was in the early 90s and any teenager from that time is approching or beyond 30. I believe there is an audience out there for the simple fact that along with TOTP back in the late 80s and early 90s were the only proper music programmes on tv. 90 minutes out of a 7 day week. Unimaginable today.

Saturday 6 June 2009
1 Release Me - Agnes (P)
2 Bonkers - Dizzee Rascal
3 Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
4 Red - Daniel Merriweather
5 Kiss Me Thru The Phone - Soulja Boy
6 Untouched - Veronicas (P)
7 Number 1 - Tinchy Stryder
8 Knock You Down - Keri Hilson
9 Fire - Kasabian (P)
10 New In Town - Little Boots (P)

I personally think too many charts being on YouTube might be one reason why The Vault are hesitant in bring the repeats back- why put them on TV when people have likely already seen them on the internet, and therefore won't bother watching.

Then again, you can do it that way these days. Back in the 80s and early 90s I'd imagine you'd have needed a big room full of complicated equipment, video recorders, computers, capgens and the like, whereas these days you could turn out the exact same product on a bog standard edit suite for next to nothing.

Its got to be the 1989-91 fairground theme !!!! The worst format from the chart show was the HUD display, that was shown on the 1986 chart show episodes. It was impossible to read on the HUD display. Thankfully they got rid of it and put info-boxes, which was much better to read.

Different episode today, but it's yet another repeat- October 12th 1991, which was first shown back in February. Looks to me like they're probably eeking out what's left of the run with repeats. What few viewers they do have left aren't going to keep watching if it's going to be like this. I'll keep my eye out on Saturday and hope for a new episode.

Think todays date maybe 18th July 1992.

The Vault's graphics have been playing up during the episode so far.

The Rock Chart confirms the date

Sadly, I have only managed to get this information off of some old audio cassettes as I didn't want to waste video tape on a music show that just showed 3/4 of music videos.
Looking back now like many of us on this thread we wish we had recorded The Chart Show as many of the videos are rarely seen anywhere now.
