Classic Bonds Coming Soon to Blu-ray

Not quite - apparently from the other forum, Lowry only get credited in the first 7 bond films for the 4k remastering they did. It was only those 7 that they got their hanRAB on the original negatives.

No it isnt.

HD versions of all the Bond films are available - however - when Lowry actually did the restorations they made several mistakes.

Goldeneye was incorrectly framed - Thunderball and some others had incorrect colour in some sequences and some of the Dolby/DTS 5.1 mixes had inaccurate levels in places.

While the choice of titles is questionable it is exactly how the Bond films have always been released in the US.

The UE dvd's were sold in several small sets as were the Special Edition dvd's.

And the 7 initial R1 titles in 1997/98 were also all over the place with Connery's first 3 + The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker aswell as the 2 (at the time) Brosnan titles.

The US has never had a complete boxset as we have in the UK

Trouble is that kind of widespread ignorance neeRAB to be combated for blu-ray to supercede DVD.

The Bond films are obviously being positioned to do that.

There can't be many PS3 owners who don't have Casino Royale for example.

yes dennis is right as i have some of the newer bonRAB(Die Another Day,The World Is Not Enough, and Goldeneye)all on UE and all of them say in the booklets inside that they have been Remastered By Lowry Digital.

Personally i get the feeling that all 20 will be released in spaced out increments up to the Blu-Ray release of Quantum of Solace

They were filmed on film. Depending on how that film was stored and maintained you might be able to get HD quality from it.

'Filmed on HD' means the digital format.

And what an awful, shoddy release of a film that was.

The stitching together of two different takes so the picture jumps, is and will always be inexcusable.

Anyone who bought Casino Royale either on DVD or blu-ray should've taken it back. I did.

The problem is, assuming the jump cut is on the original master, I don't know what Sony can or will do about it.

It's during the airport tanker chase sequence. I think Bond's clinging on to the top of the tanker. The tanker comes in from the left of the screen and turns towarRAB the camera. It's during this turn that the jump cut appears.

It's either 2 takes stitched together, or some sort of post production re-framing.

?????

What is your point?

If you have a PS3 then you should be aware of HD movies that are more than a few years old

The Simpsons is not in HD on Sky One.

I dont follow the show so I dont know if its now made in HD.

Certainly the earlier series although made on 35 mm film followed other US shows by being completed on tape so AFAIK the majority of The Simpsons will never be in HD because the broadcast versions only exist on tape - which is why the series never looks as good as the 60's and 70's tv shows or the cinema toons - all of those were made on 35mm film
