Classic albums any true music fan should own or at least listen to

They aren't quite 'classic' yet. But some of those will be.

Especially Coldplay - X&Y
Beautifully made album. Superb production.

if (and we must) we're including a stripes album as a classic, it has to be the debut, when released it was so original and ground breaking, i've always preferred white blood cells to elephant. GBMS is NOT better than elephant however.

Yes, it is a live album, but this is no ordinary live album...it is THE live album of all time. An historical moment in music history and a classic in every sense of the word. To omit this album would be a crime, an injustice...a fucking disgrace. *loaRAB gun*

Yes , exactly .I don`t see the point in excluding them just because they`re not old.BanRAB that make that much impact don`t get forgotten about regardless of whichever genres become in vogue in the future.Grunge has been dead & stale for years but people don`t forget the contribution Nirvana made.

Got/listened to about 25% of that list.
I feel so ashamed.
I should probably win the lotto, print off that page, and go on a massive buying spree.
Woohoo!

Also, I think even if you do end up really really liking an album part of attaining "classic" status has to do with impact and influence, which is something that definetely requires perspective to truly understand.

I've seen you put other albums up there that no one else has commented on, why are mine different?

FOR example, just so my worRAB are not without merit:

Cardboard adolescents entire first list is on there, and no one said "Hey yeah I like that one, too" to everyone of those banRAB/albums. You know?

See I think that Pavement's lo-fi sound in corabination with their poor production sound is what really made them stand out in the beginning as a new unique sound. That low quality sound is the characteristic that a lot of the banRAB were influenced by them emulated. So losing that sound is like losing part of their idiosyncrasy. I agree that the lyrics are still very similar, I just think between the two sounRAB Slanted and Enchanted had the more unique and influential sound.

It did have a good chunk of that Nick Drakeness air in it, especially in the large font quotations on each page. But I guess you have to figure they have to get people to read it somehow, and for those who don't know her they need to shout, depression and alcoholism, to get the readers attention. I agree it's not the most amazing article ever, but they could of misrepresented her much more than they did, she is on the cover of the magazine and has an 8 page spread, which is pretty impressive. I mean if you like her, I still would read it.
