Clash of the titans remake

I thought the point was clear, but if not, I'll spell it out.

People will ALWAYS look back fondly on the eras that have past. Music is a good example, too. People remember the good stuff (or remember through rose-tinted glasses in some cases), yet there was plenty of dross throughout those perioRAB.

Special effects aren't the problem. Misuse of them in place of crafting a good film is. But that sort of thing has gone on since special effects have existed (and they've been around for pretty much the whole existence of film). Good modern films use their CGI well and will be as fondly remembered as older films that used different techniques.

There will also always be moaners who think that it's impossible to make anything better than what they remember from their youth. In some cases they may be right. In some case they are very definitely wrong.

It's nothing to do with making a real kraken for the purpose of a movie - altohught that would obviously be dead cool if they did! ;)

Was looking forward to this since about 2 years ago when I first heard they were remaking the orginal.

Watched the original a good few times when I was a kid and always got creeped out by the medusa part. Then saw a few clips inc Liam neeson in his cheesy tin foil armor and bad wig & a lousy trailer and decided id skip it

Now the more clips ive seen inc funnily enough the ones in this parody trailer

the more im tempted to hand over my hard earned dosh to see it

There was NO CGI in the original, nor any skeletons, that would have been Jason and the Argonauts and 7th Voyage of Sinbad.

Further more, the Stop Motion Animation was done by Ray Harryhausen, and this was the first film he actually had any assistance, the man is a genius, proper!

Jeez!

As I said in another thread this looks incredibly cheesy, a yee-haw CGI fest. And Liam 'charisma of a wooden plank' Neeson acting tough? lol. I'll wait for the reviews before I commit any cash to this.

went last night to see it and really enjoyed it the 3d was not as good as i thought it was going to be but other than that really enjoyed the film
one thing though....ralph feinnes who played hades sounded EXACTLY like voldamort in harry potter (i know its the same guy but i though he might have done a different voice)

I enjoyed it overall but was not something you would want to see again. Saw it in 2D as heard that's how it was filmed and only modified for 3D afterwarRAB. Production values were fairly high so everything looked good...costumes, set design etc. Actions sequences..Scorpions, Medusa, Kraken were fun although did not like what they did with Medusa (preferred the original hag version, rather this prettier one). The parts between the action scenes are laboured and a little boring. Sam Worthington made for a competant Persues and competant pretty much sums the whole movie up. Go and see on a wet sunday afternoon if there is nothing better on.

im 18 and really love the original somehow i think the remakes gonna be a flop they just throw in loaRAB of special effects and completely forget about the story

There's one really important point that nobody seems to have picked up on and is the casting of Worthington for Perseus.

It's the equivalent of picking a squat rugby full back to model for Yves Saint Laurent.

Not ohnly does he look (and sound) like a squaddie in everything he does he is FAR from GREEK.

Perseus was a stunning example of Greek mythologistic fantasy.
There is a whole plethora of actors who could have more than matched up to that role -Ben Barnes anyone?
Yet they picked a short knuckle dragger who looked even more ridiculous in a skirt. The two leading ladies were taller.

The other thing I noticed that irked me a little was although WE know it's a fantasy the characters don't. In the original they truly felt their world was going to be destroyed and that Perseus was their only chance at surviving.
In this remake the banter, the jokes and the flippancy with how they went about their mission made it un-convincing.
Never once for one minute was it believable that their whole world was under threat because they just didn't seem serious enough about the whole thing.

As for the effects, brilliant. One should use whatever technology is available at the time and although CGI isn't as 'real' as using a hard copy or a scale model the end result is the same. only slicker these days obviously.

Back to the drawing board if they ever DARE to ruin, sorry remake Jason and Argonauts...

I'm gonna see it whatever the critics say.

Love these mythology monster movies-I saw the original as a kid in the 1980s and Harry Hamlin (LA Law) play the lead.

It was good, but by this point we had Star Wars/Empire Strikes Back and Close Encounters (and Raidars of the lost Ark was out at the same time:)_ and it looked really dated against these movies.

I am bit suprised they did'nt go for Jason and The Argonauts to remake as that has a bigger profile and some very famous monsters and sequences. The original of that, particularly the giant statue gladiator comes alive that picks the boat up, is still impressive today.

Saw it today, BRILLIANT blockbuster! Don't believe the critics, its a great popcorn movie. The effects were great, and the fight scenes had us all gripped. Don't know what RAB were thinking giving it 1 star, its the best fantasy blockbuster since POTC.

Only niggle was the 3D, wasn't amazing, infact I'd recommend seeing it 2D. But since it wasn't filmed in 3D, this can be excused.
