Clash of the Titans 1 STAR :o

Saw it last night, was looking forward to it, didn't expect much as reviews had been mainly poor, but as much as I wanted to like it.... I thought it was utter rubbish, barely anything going for it at all. The kracken was good, what could be seen of it, but that was it.... Except Fiennes' impression of Baron Silas Greenback, that was good!

Look forward to seeing the original again soon, a far, far better film, it may have had some dodgy FX (I am a life long Harryhausen fan mind you, but consider the original CotT one of his lesser efforts) but it was tonnes better than this soul-less pile of dross, at least it had honest characters that you actually connected with and cared about, and as for Calibos.... the original cannot be beaten for that guy!

The original has just come out on Blu-ray. It's a great fantasy film. By the way, some people on Amazon have moaned about the picture grain of the Blu-ray. The upscaled SD version has a lot of picture grain too. It's how it's meant to look. High definition shows the picture grain unless the film has been digitally touched up to remove it.

Let's be honest, the reviewers on Digispy aren't really up to scratch. It's hardly a craft they've managed to hone over the years. and if they were any good, well, they'd be working anywhere other than here :D

Not sure what people expect from this film. It's just a good old fashioned man vs monsters tale. It's not meant to be an Oscar winner - although if Avatar can pull it off, then there's hope for anything.

It's the perfect popcorn flick. if people don't get it, then, they just don't get it.

This review has a bit more personality about, regardless of whether or not you agree with its score.

I would submit that there are more differences between a "critic" and you or me. For one, the pros tend to be more specific about what they like (or dislike) and why, presumably so you can make a more informed decision as to whether you care to take his/her advice. They also tend to get a higher dose of what they critique than the average bear, and so may get tired of things for which you and I still haven't lost our appetite. For example, the only reason I hate Whitney Houston is that I worked at a Top 40-format radio station when The Body Guard came out and I experienced a Whitney overdose. I certainly don't see the breed dying off, though. Even if you don't agree with them, their opinions can be useful: "Bob Critic usually hates my favorite movies, and he said this one was the worst one he's seen! This is gonna ROCK!"
