civil engineering (fluid mechanics)?

in pipeline systems, our lecturer ask us to design pipe diameters, for two pipes that are being fed by a single pipe of with a certain flow and diameter at a junction.. the two pipes deliver water to two reservoirs which are in different heights..
i try to do the problem, i jus cant get it, i was hoping someone can lay out a procedure of how to go about doin it
