Not sure how I feel about this. Nothing will stop me seeing it, but that's only because I loved the books, despite the way they ended.

The timing could be better. A lot of people feel vampires are overexposed, what with Twilight, True Blood (I like this), Moonlight, Vampire Diaries, Blood: The Last Vampire, Underworld, 30 Days of Night (this film was not bad, either), and so on.

My hopes, they are low. After what's happened with Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events (which I liked, but just didn't continue) and even Stormbreaker to a lesser extent (in the sense of, it's not a story begging to be told on film). Anyway, these other things have dispirited me.

Shake 'N' Bake!

I loved the books but this looks awful. Everything about it is wrong, and they seem to have ditched the reason why he actually becomes a vampire, which is essential later on.

Underworld x 3
Against The Dark
30 Days of Night

pretty decent films - I am a vamp fan and some of the modern genre are good - 30 days was alarming and ATD was unpleasant stuff - but in a positive genre-challenging way.
Underworld is the classic Gothic style, well-made.

Van Helsing was fun - so there is room for sub-genres - the Classic Gothic, the horror/apocalyptic and the humorous (eg The Vampire Killers or VH).

Oh God. I love those books, followed them right from the first coming out. The film looks dreadful. :(:( I'm so disappointed, I've been hoping for a film to be made but the trailer is nothing like the books (and believe me, I'm open to changes but not a complete transformation of all the characters and the storyline!) and I'm just annoyed because they could have made a brilliant movie out of it.

I don't think I can bear to see it.

I too think this film looks awful. I read all the books when I was younger and really empathized with Darren as a character all the way through the series.

The film looks looks really.. kiddy. Wishful thinking on my part hoping it would be a little dark I think. :D

I'm sure it'll appeal to a younger audience though.
