Hi,
I just bought an IM client called IM+ from shapeservices.I installed it on my cingular branded Nokia E62 and it will not connect at all for some reason.I have called cingular tech support and they went over the settings with me on my nokia E62 and everything is all correct in there.

I installed IM+ on a cingular 3125 and a treo 650 and it connected with out problems at all.

I don't know if the Nokia E62 from cingular is missing settings for IM+ to connect but also i have tried installing another IM client called EQO www.eqo.com
and also it will not install the program onto my phone. i turned off all security certificates and still nothing.

According to ShapeServices they said i need a TCP/IP connecting from my nokia E62 in order for the software to connect propperly..
So what can i do here to get it to work correctly.? i have tried Agile Messenger and it works with my E62 with out problems.

Any help would be great to get IM+ software to work since they do not want to issue me a refund and now i am stuck with $30 software that i can not use at all on my Nokia E62.

I use IM+ on an E61 connected to Cingular without problems. While there are minor differences between the two phones, they are not huge. What DUN are you connecting to.

From what I've read, the three "enhancements" that the E-62 has are: (a) a good IM client; (b) the ability to dial vanity phone numbers by letter, e.g. 1800-FLOWERS, and a USB port in place of a Nokia Pop Port.

Shapes service IM has like 5 different IM services and call connect to all of them at once. I use it on my blackberry since I need gmail talk. It's a good program, the only complaint is that it disconnect more often than most IM clients.

I have the same problem on my E62. I think its another "gift" from the cingular mods to the firmware. Can't instal eqo, nav4all, others... "Authentication Failed!" And, Google Maps, Widsets, and others have endless repetitive connect prompts or can't connect b/c there aren't a million user authorizations because there aren't prompts (IM+) to allow it.

Is this true or did you just not turn your security setting off? If that be the case, then I truly feel bad for E62 owners. It's typical of them to do something like that.

There is a setting on the E61 which when enabled only allows authorized programs to be installed. Unfortunately, most of the software out there for this Symbian unit has not gone through the preapproval process. I wound up shutting that function off.

On the E61, I went to Men, Tools, App Manger, Options, Settings. I then changed software installation to "all" from signed only and disabled the online certification check.

Do I recognize that I left myself open for some security problems, "yes." Did I really have a choice, "no." Did it stop my problems istalling programs, "yes."

I don't know whether this will work for you or not. I know that Cingular changed the installation process around somewhat.

I suspect that someone is going to need to slightly hack the E61 firmware so that it can be flashed onto your phone. I don't know whether they can get the wifi working or not, but they should be able to get some stuff working

well turning online certificate check and also allow all did not work and still would not let IM+ connect and cant install EQO.
It is cingulars ROM that they have installed. Is there a firmware that i can install that will be safe to take off cingulars ROM off there phone with out messing up my phone that is the only way i will be able to use apps with out problems.if someone has a link to download firmware that will work with my cingular E62. so tell me what are my options here..i heard someone said to download firmware from nokia uk site but i looked on there and found nothing there but dead links.

any help at this point would be great i dont want to go and buy another phone again.
