My contract with Verizon ends May 5, and I plan to switch my wife and me to Cingular.
I was on the fence about getting the Razr V3, because, although I could get it for cheap off Amazon.com with 2-yr contract, its reviews were less than stellar. (Note: Today I discovered that the Amazon rebates do not apply to Cingular customers that want to transfer their existing phone numbers, which I would be doing. Best Buy was the next cheapest I found.)
Here's what I'd like to have.
Required:
Camera (decent megapix, but doesn't have to be stellar)
Thin (pocketable - no belt clips)
Decent Price
Preferred:
Bluetooth
MP3 player (not iTunes)
PC-syncable (to transfer address book/calendar/mp3s/etc)
Speakerphone
Decent Ringtones (or downloadable)
Not Required/could care less about:
Test messaging - never text from my phone, so I don't need a qwerty board
PDA/Tablet PC functionality/versatility
Today, after a few days of searching, I ran across the Razr V3i and got excited. It seems to have most if not all of what I want while improving on the gripes of the V3, but I am not sure if
a) they will be released in the Southeast (central Alabama) any time soon
b) the price will be outrageous
I noticed Best Buy had better deals than Cingular kiosk/stores for the V3.
Should I hold out for the V3i? And will I be able to find it for a decent price? If price were no object, I'd look into the "unlocked" phones, but from what I've seen, the prices are steep, since there is no contract involved. If I've overlooked another great Cingular phone, please let me know. The SLVR was also intriguing, but I am skeptical about mixed reviews (from zdnet) of it, and the fact that its screen is exposed.
Thanks a lot for the help. Glad I found this forum.
