I'm looking to upgrade my phone here shortly. I have made it to the upgrade period of my contract so I shouldn't have to pay full price. That being said I'm looking for something under $150 but would be willing to go a tad higher if need be. I'd like it to have a nice camera and be able to listen mp3s with it. Form-factor doesn't matter, nor does brand or color.

Yea, I'm on Cingular. I'm really stuck on that one or the Cingular SYNC

Ya, both are good choices. The best way to solve it to go to the store and compare the two in hand, see which you prefer. The SYNC does have a nicer screen but it can only be expanded up to 2GB vs. 4GB or even 8GB I believe. I personally prefer the SYNC, not really sure why but I have never really been fond of the W810i, even though its feature set its amazing.

The a707/Sync and w810i are both good choices. I prefer the w810i because I think the mp3 player is good and the reception is great. I also found the a707 to be a bit big (wide). It really narrows down to personal preference. Like EChild said, you should go to a local Cingular store and check out both phones before you make your decision.
