Cingular Moto L2 --> Verizon

I have an L2 that I don't use or want anymore. My roommate is using an LG 8100 with verizon and would like to use the L2 on his network. One is GSM and the other CDMA so is it possible?

No. For the very reason that you just stated. The phone is GSM, Verizon's network is CDMA. They simply will not talk to each other.
