Cingular 8215 or Treo 650

Sadly, my PDA seems to have gone belly up today. As much as I love my Razr, I'm wondering if a PDA phone might be a better alternative than dropping close to $300 on a new one.

I'm with Cigular, so my options are kind of listed. I'm also a cheapskate, which limits them even futher. It looks like I can get a Treo 650 (Palm based) or Cingular 8215 (Windows) for a good price (I know they're old models, but please refer to "cheapskate" above). I'd kind of like to stick to the Windows PPC, because I've got some software I don't want to have to repurchase, but then I'm not sure if it would even run on the Mobile version of PPC anyway and I'd have to buy it again either way.

Anyway, I guess what I'm looking for is feedback on the Treo and the Cingular phones - how would people who have used them rate them?

IMHO, the Treo's are all jungue. I had 3 Treo 600s and a 650 and finally gave up and went to a BB 8700c. Great move!

What are your requirements first of all. How do you plan on using the device?
What sort of software do you have and want to keep? That will help us help you.

In any case, I highly recommend going to the latest versions right now, especially the 8525 as opposed to the 8125. The Blackjack is also a good option if you can live with a smartphone as opposed to a PPC.

Well, the good news is that I've managed to revivie my PDA so a new phone isn't as big a priority any more.

I WOULD consider upgrading to a PDA phone if it were cheap, but the only ones I can get cheap are the Treo 650 (although I work with a guy who LOVES his), and the Cingular 8125 (I can get a refurb of one of these phones for $50 or $100). If neither of these are great options, it looks like it's a moot point since I don't really want to spend $300 or $400.

I mostly use my PDA for the calendar and contacts, and well as add on apps like Laradian Bible reader. If I went with a PDA phone, I'd also strongly consider the data package (depending on price) and use the phone for e-mail and to surf.

My contract with Cingular is up in a few months. I doubt I'll be able to find another carier that can give me what I have now for the price, but if I could find one that did and they had a nice PDA phone for a good price I'd consider switching.
