Cingular 8125, T-mobile MDA, or Sprint PPC 6700

The Cingular 8125, T-Mobile MDA, Verizon Treo, and Sprint PPC 6700 have enticed me into getting a good Windows Mobile PPC phone with a QWERTY keyboard for Agile IM, Hotmail, and Exchange server access.

Currently I'm on an Audiovox SMT 5600 with a Cingular Blue plan at $40 a month for 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited nights/weekends, unlimited roaming, and free incoming SMS/MMS. I can upgrade to the unlimited data at $25 a month. Rarely do I use more than anytime 500 minutes, having the extra minutes lets me ignore my usage though.

Reception is usable at home and on Cingular Blue at work. Sprint works, but Verizon does not. T-Mobile Sidekicks at 1900 MHz GSM do not work; 850MHz may work. I do not know if T-Mobile offers 850 MHz GSM EDGE support in Santa Monica, CA.

I can go one of five ways:
1. Migrate to Cingular and lose my plan, but get the Cingular 8125 for $350 and 900 minutes, unlimited nights/weekends, unlimited data, and lose my free incoming SMS for $80 a month.

2. Move to T-Mobile and get the MDA with 1000 minutes and unlimited data for $70 a month.

3. Move to Sprint and get the PPC 6700 and 1000 minutes and unlimited data for $70 a month. How does this handset compare to the HTC Wizard variants?

4. Buy a Cingular 8125 off eBay (or someplace more reputable) for $600, unlock it and use it with Cingular Blue. Lord knows, if this will work with Cingular blue's data plan. How hard would this be?

5. Forget it and keep getting warranty replacements from Lockline till Cingular kicks me out.
Any feedback to help in this descision is appreciated. Thank you.

If Cingular would just offer an equivalent plan and the Cingular 8125 at $350 they would be making $25 more per month off of me. Instead, they may lose a long time customer.

T-Mobile was voted, "The carrier least likely to **** you in the ***," so you might wanna go with them. Plus the MDA doesn't have the external antenna and is usable all over the world.

Hehe a good way of putting it. My only concern with T-mobile is reception at work and data speed. How are T-Mobile's EDGE speeds and coverage in SoCal? What about in buildings?

I couldn't tell you about the coverage but from looking at the phones in person my choice and what I will be buying will be the MDA, I went and played with the Sprint 6700 and it was just blocky and wasn't very great as far as what it felt like. The 8125 to me is just UGLY and I would get sick of carrying it around. The Treo 650 that I had was nice but got tired of it after some time. The MDA to me has the best looks and keypad layout and feel are the best compared to all of them.

Just thought I would throw my .2 in

Frankly you're going to get the best data speeds with Verizon and Sprint, but as soon as you drop out of the EV-DO area you're back to EDGE speeds.

From everything I've seen, T-Mobile's EDGE is faster than Cingular's.

I think I'm going to bite and get the Cingular 8125. After a company discount the service will be roughly the same price as T-mobile. For some reason T-mobile wants $30 a month for their data plan (ouch!).

I walked into the local tmobile store today and walked out with a brand new MDA. What sold me was the salesperson who didn't pressure and mentioned that my number could be transferred over within the first 30 days. Now I can easily try out the service without losing my contract.

So far the phone itself is impressive. I'm typing this post using it on wifi.
