Cineworld "SOLD" stickers on sweets?

yikes

I bought some M&Ms today, and the guy had a big roll of stickers saying "SOLD" one if which he put on the bag. Has anyone else seen this?

Do they come in and check to make sure you didn't bring your own or what?

I swear Cineworld has more security than a small prison...

It's so they know you've paid, otherwise people could pick the sweets up and take them into the cinema without paying. It saves people time checking to see if you've paid or not.

The sweets are all behind the counter though (behind a glass case, probably bullet proof knowing Cineworld) so you can't just pick them up. Also, nobody checked anyway, so unless it's done by cameras or something stupid I don't know (some guy DID come in half way through with a green light, but maybe that was just to check for cameras or something)

Strange. Seems to be a bit of a waste if everything is behind the counter. Perhaps it's a company wide thing?

In the cinemas I go to many of the sweets and such are laid out for anyone to pick up and take to the counter, much like a shop.

The people who come around during films are just to check the cinema as a whole; camera, any issues with people watching etc.

Maybe he got confused, usually those stickers are for pick n mix, maybe when someone said - put them on sweets', he thought M&Ms lol

I wouldn't be surprised I worked with some real silly people when I worked at a cinema lol.

In my nearest Cineworld they put the "SOLD" stickers on everything, even the drink bottles from the fridge. It makes sense there though because the sweets and drinks are all on the customers side of the counter (you could quite easily pick up a bottle of Dr Pepper and walk off without paying for it if you're that way inclined, although i assume that there's a camera or something aimed at the fridge to stop this from happening).

They don't actually stop you bringing in your own stuff though, and obviously that doesn't have a sold sticker on it. I'm waiting for the day when they accuse me of stealing something i've brought in myself, lol.

Maybe at the end of the day they check how many SOLD stickers have been used up and compare it to the stock level to check that none have gone missing?

Has anyone ever got checked for bringing their own stuff into the cinema? Is this a myth? I walked in with a Sainsbury's bag full of snacks and no one sad a thing.

I used to work in a Vue and stopped people from bringing hot food in - who wants to sit next to a person with a chinese, nandos, burgers.etc (yes chinese and nandos, it's silly). I never stopped people from bringing in drinks, crisps.etc

I once was seating the VIP seats and someone came in with a burger - I let them eat it before the film started :p

Cineworld "SOLD" stickers on sweets?

Yes. On the three occasions I have been to Cineworld I have been asked each time to open the carrier bag I was carrying to check that I had no goodies bought outside the cinema.

One one of these occasions, I actually saw a man asked to open his jacket so they could have a check inside for contraband sweeties. Its for this reason, I wouldn't go to Cineworld again.

I think that the sold stickers are less about stealing cineworld stuff and more about stopping you bringing in your own food and drinks.

I know there is an argument that cinemas rely on the revenue from food and drinks sales. However, having paid
