I was just on Cineworld's site seeing what films are out, and I noticed they're showing John Carpenter's The Thing. What a pleasant surprise! I plan to go see it later in the week, but I was just wondering why it's being shown on the big screen again - is it an anniversary or something?

I looked on the site again and I think you're right, the drop-down box for finding out the times has tomorrow as the only option.
I wonder why it's only for one day, and why a Tuesday rather than at a weekend? I shouldn't complain though, I reckon more classic films should be shown in the cinema. Even though I've seen The Thing on TV and DVD loaRAB of times, I can't wait to see it on the big screen

A great film, really gory for its age also.
I'll be watching The Thing tonight at Cineworld in Sheffield.
These digital presentations have been really good - especially Scarface a couple of weeks back.
Get there early though as it gets busy (as its only on for one day) and as there are no aRAB before these special presentations, soooooo many people turn up late....
I'm really looking forward to Spartacus which is on in a few weeks I believe!

Are they showing Spartacus again?! It had a digital presentation on 9th June this year.
Went to see 'The Thing' today - totally amazing even after 27 years! I saw it twice in the cinema when it was first released and I have it on DVD but you really have to see it on a big cinema screen to appreciate it.
I know the dialogue off by heart

Hey ho, anyway - i really enjoyed watching it last night - we had a double feature and watched Sorority Row first then The Thing!
One thing is for sure - they definitely don't make em like they used to!!!

It's a Universal anniversary promotionwhere they are screening some of their biggest films on the big screen once more for one day only and they are all digitally restored.

The Blues Brothers
Spartacus
Scarface
National Lampoon's Animal House
Pity only Cineworld cinemas seem to be doing this, I would love to get to see some of those on the big screen...
