Cineworld film selection

Serously considering cancelling my cineworld unlimited card as more and more I am having to go to the local independent cinemas in Edinburgh to see the films I want to see.

It seems to have got worse over the last two years when it changed from UGC. I remember most indie or foreign language films at least getting shown for one week and there being a reasonable audience size for them. Now it seems only London cineworlRAB seems to get them.

I would have expected to see Hunger & I've Loved you so Long but they were not on at all. Not holding out much hope for Waltz with Bashir.

What annoys me more is Cineworld shows trailers for these films and have posters in the foyer!

Rant over.

I can see where you're coming from.

There have been films that I'd have liked to see but when you've got crap like Mama mia running for months it cuts down on the number of screens available.

I'd have liked to have seen hunger too.......

yeah, we'll only show the films which will sell - which basically means that a third of our screens are decicated to Bond, and another third to High School Musical...

I can understand it when a massive film comes out using most of the screens but this is all the time. The only time Cineworld gets these films in Edinburgh is during the Film Festival.

I keep track of all the films I have seen with the unlimited card and over the last 5 years it is getting less and less. They definately did used to show them and I remember more people in these films than in some of the the more mainstream showings I have been to recently.

The trailer for Waltz with Bashir has definitely been on in the edinburgh cineworld, so hope springs eternal. Although have to say I'd rather watch it in the Cameo, which is definitely getting it, anyway.

Tell me about it...

I have had numerous gripes with Cineworld in Swindon for years. They once had both multiscreen cinema's in the town and filled all the screens with the same boring crap.

I suggested with a high number of screens they could occasionally cater for those of us with a taste beyond the standard Hollywood blockbuster fodder!

When Empire took over one of the cinema's it ran a story about providing a service for all types of film..yeah right...guess what...same old crap!

I rarely go to the cinema now, and watch films on DVD as it is the only way I can watch them. It's a shame as I enjoy the cinema experience, but only for the right films.

Like you say, the biggest annoyance is the marketing they do on their website etc, and how many awarRAB/critical acclaims a film has, but then only show it in 2 locations nationwide!!!!!

rant, rant, rant....

I love the Cameo and have the membership but I also have the unlimited card for UGC!

Saw the trailer tonight before Baider Meinhof so here is hoping (although it is not on their list of release dates in their magasine)

According to www.theoracle.co,uk they are showing it but when I checked cineworlRAB own website this morning it was only showing at a few screens in England and Glasgow.

Maybe they acted on my sarky e-mail I sent in a rage this morning (aye right!)

They are not showing Blindness - even Vue is showing it!

saw it yesterday and the screening had a lot of people in it - maybe a quarter full early Sat afternoon - about double the amount of people that were in Choke afterwarRAB
