Last Summer went to see Pirates of the Carribean 2 with my two boys and my boyfriend who is not one to suffer in silence. The place was packed as it was a Saturday morning and there were a lot of groups of laRAB aged about 12 or 13 (most of them in the same year as my oldest son). A group of these laRAB started really making a noise, laughing and talking loudly and ignoring the two girls sitting behind them who kept asking them to be quiet. After about 10 minutes of glaring at them my boyfriend (who is a big bald scary looking bloke)stood up and shouted at the top of his voice "If you lot don't shut up right now I'm going to come over and rip your heaRAB off". The whole audience turned round to look at us (we were right at the back) and my eldest son slid down in his seat as far as he could go with embarrasment but they did shut up!

Problem is sometimes you can't tell. Our son would happily sit through a whole DVD quietly, so we thought it would be OK to take him to see Cars to see his first cinema movie, but unfortunately he got bored half way through and wanted to run about and be noisy, so I had to take him outside a few times. Luckily we planned it so we were in an early showing on a weekday, so it wasn't busy at all. We've decided to wait a few years before taking him to the cinema again! 
I think I've been generally lucky, but there have been a few occasions where I've been sat near some people who have talked all the way through a film and it's totally ruined it.

I remember going to see the Da Vinci Code - had waited with excitment as I loved reading the book (in a time well beofre the hype).
Anyway the film (regardless of its merits), was spoiled - step forward the long haired hippy dude with his carrier bag full of crisps. I swear I could hear each and every crunch he
was making, more so seeing as he decided to munch through his salt and vinegar offering during a more quieter part of the movie.
Once finished he reached bag into his carrier bag and proceeded to open up a second packet, followed by a third, then a fourth. This was getting annoying now, not
that I was going to complain - I'm just not like that. It was more like ignorance on the part of those around him. He wasn't finished yet though, as out came packet number five, then numbers six, seven, eight, and nine one after another. In then end I found it quite funny - nine bags of crisps in a row!

i think most people at a cinema who disrupt your showing are cowarRAB.
i often go with my g/f and /or a few frienRAB if anyone is anoying everyone (a phone or something) just chuck food at them.
normally (in my experience) its a small grp of young girls (14-17) giggling and on the phone. just chucking maltesers at them makes them either shut up or leave.
best bit is they cant see who did it
of course ur aim has to be pretty good..
i am no help what so ever.

I always go to the toilet before the movie starts but sometimes I just have a weak bladder during the showing and have to have a toliet break during a showing. This is rare but it does happen and thats hardly my fault is it?
The phone use is really annoying, when I went to London again to see a mate earlier this year it happened in every showing there. It seemed to be very common.
By far and away the most annoying thing is people talking in the cinema. I have gone out and complained to the cinema people during a showing about people that are constantly talking. Nothing ever happens even though they promise to come in and sort it out but normally the offenders just leave the cinema half way through the showing so thats ok. I just don't understand why they bother paying if they are going to talk during the movie?
There are outside variables that you cannot control like there have been a few times recently where the film workprint projection has slipped and it has meant that you could only see half the screen. I have complained those times and they have fixed the projection straight away.
Its definatly better to watch a movie with less people and ideally have a screen to yourself. Thats the attraction of DVD's I guess, the fact that you don't have to deal with the morons who are at the cinema.

Lets not forget the groups of youths who are there to have a laugh and cause trouble. Finally there are the loved up couples who spend the whole time kissing and talking during the movie. I really sound like a right old grumpy idiot, but it is annoying.

Whenever I take snacks to the cinema I always try to open anything that rustles when there's a loud action sequence in the film

I never go to the cinema. I can't stand the volume of the films and I can't sit still for five minutes either. Bet you're glad I don't go aren't you?

Actually my local multiplex plays way more films that are only on about 20 screens nationwide. But with these limited release films at the multiplex, I find myself being one of about 5 people in the screen, sometimes less. It's got nothing to do with the type of cinema and everything to do with the film. I'll be watching The Fountain by myself while nextdoor Epic Movie will be playing to the chavs.
The local arthouse ones like to play the same film for a whole month even though it's on general release everywhere anyway, just because it's critically acclaimed.
For actual foreign arthouse films I have to go to the NFT, which is handy for me being in London, but sucks for everyone else.

People of the North-West, try a visit to the Cornerhouse (Manchester) if you haven't already. They show a great selection of interesting films, you can get a great meal and a good selection of beers in the cafe before or after, which means nobody sits near you eating filthy, processed multiplex cinema swill and junk drinks. Hurrah!
