Cinema: Why Do Some People Bother?

Has anyone seen the "Frog" information film that Cineworld show.? It tells the audience not to do everything that really annoys me, but in a humourous way, and all to the tune of "I heard in on the grapevine".

"Kick my seat, you annoying man, I'll be on you like Jackie Chan" :D :D

Not that it makes a huge amount of difference. :(
 
Yes, common courtesy is beyond the reach of some people. Going to the toilet doesn't count - you can't help that :eek: And eating is expected. Coming in late you'll probably only interrupt the adverts anyway.

Phone going off? What's the excuse? They show adverts at the start to remind you to turn it off. Put it on silent if you're desperately waiting for a call!

Talking... I just don't understand. People around you want to hear the film, not you. Want to be immersed in the world and not dragged out of it by inane comments that could easily wait until the credits are rolling.
 
I don't bother with the cinema anymore. It's just not fun or enjoyable. Not to mention most employees are useless. Once I went a few months ago and not only did they print us the wrong time tickets (printed tickets for a film that started half an hour before we were booking even though we said the right time) but they forget to turn the lights off in the room. The cinema was packed out, the seats and floors were sticky and dirty, people were playing games on their phone, phones were ringing and they were actually talking on the phone and phoning people, phones were ringing. As the original poster said, there are people getting up every 5 minutes. It's just not a fun experience. I'm honestly not surprised people prefer to buy or download a pirated copy and watch it in their own comfort (and with snacks being 90% off the prices in the cinema!). I refuse to pay
 
KiRAB these days have really weak bladders thats all I can say.

For god sake have a piss before you go in.

If anybody gets up to go to the toliet 5 minutes before the end of the film then they shouldn't of bothered going in the first place.

I've sat though some really crap films and i've managed to sit til the credits.

See, I still say it's the type of film you're seeing that makes the difference. Any teenager going to see A Prairie Home Companion isn't going to be your typical texting-obsessed chav. It's not a high-brow film, but hardly an action-packed popcorn flick either.

I said earlier in the thread that I've become increasingly annoyed by select groups of middle-aged people who just love to think they're ever so sophisticated for going to see certain films. The fake hearty laughter at a witty line of dialogue; the loud discussions of their private lives up until the second the opening credits stop (or unfortunately in your case, throughout the film too); the sitting in the centre of the rows when they know they have a weak bladder and could have chosen an aisle seat... and the absolute worst for any regular cinema-goer - anyone who laughs at the Orange cinema aRAB when you've seen them at least 20 times already! Not their fault, it's just that they're SO unfunny.
 
i only go cause i can get in free!! :p (hubby manager in 1)and even then we don`t go in the first week as its bad to many people to be annoying!!

but even when we waited till the last week of Harry Potter last year there was an annoying bint behind us on her sodding mobile and complained at the end of the film that it was crap but she`d not watched it properly!! :mad: :rolleyes:

but in the near future wont get in free (hubby looking for a new job)so we will just wait for the DVD as we wont want to step foot in our local anymore!! :p
 
It's not an excuse to make a fuss, people go to the toilet not because they're trying to irritate but because they need to go.

Toilet trips don't annoy me, people eating doesn't annoy me, even phones don't - the only thing I can't stand is when people kick the back of your seat, or wrap their legs over the row in front and take their shoes off... why do they do that? :confused:
 
Five is about the right age to start taking your child to the cinema imo, my son was that age when he saw his first film in one, and he sat enthralled throughout. Three though, is too young. I don't see how anyone can expect a three year old to sit quietly through an entire film.

I only had the one child, but if I'd had more than one I'd have left the youngest at home, as its a nice way to spend quality time with the oldest too.

I also think that it would help parents no end if intervals were brought back, so they could sort out the loo etc, then.

As my son got older, I also noticed that many CGI's are shown in the evening, so I would take him then.
 
Went to see "One Night In The Museum" 2.30 Saturday. Never again.

The cinema was overheated (the chocolate I took in had melted after just 1/2 hr).
The two girls to my right whispeed non-stop despite the woman next to them asking them to be quiet. They went to the toilet/refreshments several time, then left an hour into the film - why bother?!
Mobile phones were lit up all over like Christmas Tree lights. People seem to think having them on silent is just enough. RAB, can you not detach yourself from the outside world for just 2 hours?
Won't waste my money again, next time I'll just wait for the DVD to come out.
 
I remember seeing 'An American Haunting' (which I thought was terrible by the way) - about 20 minutes into the film, a group of about ten kiRAB got up from the front and left...but just before they left, one of them shouted out the ending to the film. Such vile cretin...

I think the problem with people getting up/leaving etc...is that people go to see a film, and when it finishes, they just enter another screen...so they only pay for one film but go to other screens-not taking it too seriously.
 
You forgot that people stood for the National Anthem at the end.

There were two films then. The 'B' film was usually....weak.
You could normally go in at any time & sit there until the whole lot came back to when you entered.

KiaOra pop, oxo & salted crisps with a blue bag was all that was realistically on offer in our local. The chocolates were beyond our pocket money.
 
I have a 61" plasma so do not go to the cinema any more.

No more anoying S***S to put up with, woo hoo.

I am going to make an exception for 300 when its out & go to the local flea pit.
 
I don't remember ever hearing the "national anthem".

But the cost of sweets yes they were expensive, still are :eek:

My parents treated us to an ice cream and that was it. I can't say I blame the, with cinema rip off prices. :rolleyes:
They want people to stop watching cheap bootleg copies on DVD. Make your prices more realistic at the snack kiosk.
 
Yea :) A trip to the cinema for us kiRAB was a real special treat. I swear my kiRAB don't get as excited as we used to. Then again times have changed so much - so fast :eek:
 
I dont go anymore and I wont support pirate copys. The turn around from cinema to DVD is about 6 months tops and then 2 months before its in the bargain bin for
 
i totally adore going to the cinema. but it can be arwkard. i have to choose my times carefully - ie - no trips on a saturday or sunday or friday night! being a disgrace to the male race like i am - i am continuously single - and also living in very strange city (norwich) i have to go on my own. week days are the best.
i think they should have a special screen for the lonely and ugly!!!!
 
I really agree with that because our cineworld has 14 screens. 1-7 to the left and 8-14 to the right... now theres only 2 ticket checkers 1 for 1-7 and 1 for 8-14. Nobody at any of the doors to the screens, so really theres nothing to stop people walking out of screen 1 and into screen 4 for example.
