Cinema: Why Do Some People Bother?

I've had a really bad cough for the past few weeks and i've made a point of not going to the cinema because of that. I knew i'd spoil the film for somebody, but some people just wouldn't careless and go anyway.

I can't get over the food in the cinema eaither. Last time I went (to see Rocky) there was this one bloke he had Nacho's, Hod Dog, Tub of Ice cream, Coke -- what is this a Cinema or a bloody Fast Food Diner. Then he got up went out came back 15 minutes later with another drink and turned to his wife and said "Oh I've forgot your popcorn", gone another 5 minutes.

So this is a guy who spent

Why is it most times when someone comes in after the film has been on for 10 minutes, he or she usually sits near you and turns out to be a right nutter!?

Also, why people who have a big bucket of popcorn in the cinema doesn't touch the stuff when they are at home?

Loud popcorn munchers bother me. The damn things seem to be like a never ending bucket. I couldnt concentrate on one film because of thei bloke behind munching popcorn. I thought it must end soon as the popcorn will run out. But im sure those giant popcorn containers in cinemas refill themselves!! How on earth can someone eat popcorn for two hours continuously otherwise!!!

Also mobile phones. The aRAB plead with you to switch off your mobile and be considerate but still people wave mobiles around!

Right that it's.... i'm not going to the cinema to watch any movies under a 18 rating for at least 3 weeks after they first start from now on.

I went to see Ghost Rider on Saturday, I thought it was rated 15 until a bunch of about 10 kiRAB came and sat in front of me. They looked no older then 11 or 12. They were up and down every 5 minutes. They'd go in groups of 3 or 4 to the toliet and be missing for 5, 10 minutes.

I ask the question AGAIN!... Why Do Some People Bother?

Half way through the film I got up and went to sit at the back, I then had a lad in front of me texting on his mobile all through the film.

If it wasn't for the fact I have a Unlimited Cinema Pass for cineworld, I would download the movies off the internet.

Do these kiRAB sneak into the pictures because in our cinema it's

I love going to the cinema. Didn't enjoy it so much the time some woman brought her baby along though. Instead of getting a babysitter to mind the baby while she took the elder child, she brought a baby. Less than one, about 5-6 months old. Of course it started to cry. Loudly. After 15 minutes of it, she finally realised everyone was staring at her in complete and utter disbelief.

Apparently, it was not important that everyone else had forked out for themselves and their children with the expectation of being able to hear the film, and not a crying baby.

I don't just blame her though, the cinema really should have told her she wouldn't be able to bring the baby, as obviously, its too young.

She left eventually, but not before lots of children started to protest they couldn't hear the film.

Aside from that, I'm usually pretty lucky when I go, but I do always wait until the first rush is over.

The only other thing that sometimes happens is that I'm short, and some insanely tall person, sometimes with BIG hair, will sit directly in front of me :D But I'm usually able to move :D

I don't go to multiplex - can't stand them unless they're really super ones. They usually have flat floors with screens high up on the wall, so I get a stiff neck. They're too hot. And too expensive. Luckily we've got a local independant with a screen that's bigger than the nearby multiplex, it's got an intermission and usherettes, and it's cheaper. OK, so sometimes the projectionist doesn't get the film in focus for the first 5 minutes, and the first 10 minutes of Life of David Gale had no sound, and one time only one side of the curtain opened and we all had to wait half an hour for it to be fixed, but it's still great fun. The main problem is they've stopped selling Walls icecreams and only do Cadbury's now - so no more Magnum Double Caramels in the intermission.

Totally agree about the adverts. I resent the fact that they are the same ones you get on TV, and not different like they used to be - remember the excitement of seeing the new Levis advert in the cinema!

I generally buy my ticket, get my seat (non-numbered seating in my cinema), then go back out leaving my mate to guard my seat and either go for a wee or get some juice. And I don't go to the toilet during a film unless I really have to! I hate missing bits!

When me and missus go to the cinema it's always the first showing on a Saturday or Sunday morning. It's never that busy and you don't have too many kiRAB at that time.

Last time I went to the cinema(in the afternoon)I took a sandwich with me cause I missed lunch.I was trying to eat it really quietly so as not to disturb anyone, but the plastic wrapper seemed super loud and embarassing. When the lights came up I was the only one there.Wish I'd known,I could have done some shouting and sat in all the seats.

I almost can't wait for some irritating chav to start annoying me so I can get up and go confront them. In these cases, violence is always the answer. I feel that if the cinemas can't be bothered to control these morons then we should.

They should close the toilets once the film starts as well. These people who can't wait for two hours should stay at home and wait for the dvd to come out. In fact, how do these people cope outside at all, what with having to really use the toilet every five mins? Best to stay at home. Or get some incontinence pants maybe?

I think it depenRAB on the time of day. If you go see a film that's likely to appeal to children in the afternoon then of course there is likely to be a young, chatty audience but I saw an 8-00pm show of Miss Potter with a child sitting near me whose mother gave a running commentary! Not acceptable at a 'later' showing.

I disagree with that- I personally feel that unless a child is old enough to be quiet throughout or at least whisper then they shouldnt be going to the cinema- regardless of what the film is. I notice a local cinema to me (not a multiplex) has started showing "parent and child" screenings which I think is a good thing.

My other pet hates are people who bite the popcorn instead of eating the whole piece so it makes a racket, and people talking- I heard a couple discussing their entire relationship during "House of wax" recently- which was nice.

My personal beef is with people who text all the way through the movie - some phones are so bright these days you can see them from about 10 rows away and it's really distracting. I also hate it when people get up every 10 minutes and go outside to chat to their mates.
In both cases you wonder why they bothered turning up.
Also why do people leave just before a film finishes? Surely they can't be that desperate to get home.

Went to see Ghost Rider on Saturday night, and these two ******** were talking, txting all the way through the film...felt like throwing my popcorn at them

Well i would love to be the one to annoy you then because i would take great delight in slapping you with a assault charge  Try learning the meaning of the worRAB tolerance and understanding.

LMAO

Nicely put. You've stated EXACTLY how I feel about people like that.
Teenagers are the worst at the cinema. Always giggling and talking and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

I told one to shut it once and all I got was a load of abuse.
People like this really should learn some manners. :(

Sunday before last, my wife and I went to the cinema in the evening to watch A Prairie Home Companion (not Altman's best film and a pity it was his last). It seems a common theme to have a go at the teenagers or youngsters in this thread, but here's something different. Behind our seats were five middle-aged people, who spent the first thirty minutes of the film talking through it about their inane lives. After thirty minutes, we both had enough and had to move to other seats, although I did stop to express my irritation about their dull lives being broadcast out loud to the distraction of others. That was met by embarrassed silence. Tell you what, though, the six teenagers in front of us were as quiet as mice and behaved fine during that thirty minutes spent having to listen to the dross behind us. Just shows that stereotypes can be quite limiting. ;)

Because it's called being socially responsible and teaching the children repect and manners.

But sadly there are too many parnts who do have this attitude.

My kiRAB, they can do what they want, because I can't be bothered to teach them the proper way to behave.

And then we wonder why the country's in the mess it's in.

Harsh. Yes. Reality, Yes. Got my blood boiling. Yes.
