Cinema: Why Do Some People Bother?

Why should we wait for a dvd release to watch what ever movie? :confused: I and everyone else pay for the experience of going to see a movie on a big screen which is pricey!, not for the experience of having it ruined by the persistent nattering/munching/peeing about a lot of the inconsiderate folk do these days at the cinema.

Nobody is asking for it to become a military like operation, just some respect for others that go to the movies for the movies would be nice, I don't believe the cinema is the place for non stop chatter and phones being on, or the hefty doses of teeny copulation or what ever other shenanigans they get up to when there just after a warm room to sod about in rather than be stuck outside in the cold/rain

Yeah enjoy a movie with other people, but if you are after a laugh and a natter and a bit of a munch with a large group of folk...go to a pub/club. :)​
 
Some people obviously are inconsiderate and oblivious to other people in the cinema which I don't agree with. But you get the other extreme of some people so quick to complain you wonder why they even bother going to the cinema.

All you have to do is make one comment to a friend about the movie and you get glared at. If someone neeRAB the toilet one time and it means making the effort of rising ever so slightly from your seat why is it such a harRABhip.

Anyway I guess I am just an easy going person, It takes a lot to ruin a movie for me, as i've said if people are being diliberately incosiderate they should be dealt with but a lot of people seem to demand absolute perfection from a cinema audience
 
I find that often when the cinema has its share of annoying people, it really does distract me from the film - but most of the time, afterwarRAB I don't remember anything except the film.

Obviously things like scummy kiRAB throwing a full bottle of Coke from the back row down on top of everyone in the cinema (during Ocean's Eleven) sticks in my mind.

But most of the mobile/talking/munching kinda falls away once the movie is over & I've left the cinema. I guess it's just par for the course these days.

I try to let things go and enjoy the film as much as possible without letting people spoil it. Most of the time it works :)
 
Watching films at home comes nowhere near the experience of seeing them on a big screen, with proper, loud surround sound. If you turned up your TV volume to cinema levels you'd get an Asbo on the spot, but films are made to sound good at auditorium levels and to look right on huge screens.

I went to see Nacho Libre at the Gate Cinema in Notting Hill. Bought a glass of wine at the bar and took it in - there are tables so you don't spill your drink. AfterwarRAB, the staff asked me what I thought of it (not a lot). That's what a proper cinema should be like, a friendly, comfortable place to relax, not a soulless hangar on the M62.
 
Toilet breaks are fine. We should not complain about lifes little neeRAB.

BUT taking a phone call is not life or death (will be their death if I catch them) so switch it off. There is nothing worse, you are sitting in a dark room and when in 4 rows in front you see a mobile screen light up. You might aswell shine a torch in my face.
And Talking through a film is just rude. Its even worse when they are talking about whats about to happen next. You have seen the film so SHUT UP!!!

Absolutely. If you're of drinking age go to a pub instead. You don't have to pay to get in, either.
To those who cry 'grumpy' let me put it this way, if you were watching a DVD in your living room and a stranger came in and sat down next to you munching, talking constantly etc, would you be happy? It's about showing respect for others.

I hate people who get up and down aswell
but to be honest I hate people who sit and tut, or moan or give obvious looks of disgust, sometimes swivelling 180 degrees around to give a dirty look even more.
 
Why are there always people eating those minging nacho things? They stink to high heaven :mad:
Then there are the coughers :mad:
Lastly we went on a Wednesday Orange 2 for 1 and it was full of pensioners. They were noisy :eek: and *ahem* less than ozone friendy :eek:

Well I never stood up to go to the loo in the middle of a movie, not even as a tweeny, and I can'st understand people that do it, AT ALL, it's absolutly irritating and it's just an excuse to make a fuss.

Well i only go to the cinema now to watch classic films that were on show when I was not even born, so although the cinema is usually packed the persons are usually over 50 and very polite, and contrary to popular opinion as we get older we must get very strong bladders, i never saw no one standing up. :rolleyes:
 
When I was backpacking across the States in 19neveryoumind, we came across a drive-in (yes, we had hired a car that day) and it was sooooooo great. Had the big screen but still could make as much noise as we liked eating all that popcorn and those huge American hotdogs. Do they have drive-ins anymore?
 
People being obnoxious in the cinema is one of my pet hates...if I can, I generally try and see films during the day (or at least not at weekenRAB). It's a bit tricky though, as I generally meet up with frienRAB most weekenRAB and they often want to go see a film...usually pretty soon after going for a meal/drink, and I always seem to end up needing to use the bathroom at least twice during a film :(

I do try and sit right at the side of a row (next to the stairs) though, so that's something. If you're ever seeing a film at the Cineworld in Glasgow and a guy keeps getting up and down to use the bathroom, I apologise in case it's me :o
 
that reminRAB me just before xx-mas i took my sisters two children to the cinema. its was x-mas eve 4pm and was a kiRAB film - happy feet.

one child is 8 the other is 5.

the 5yr old halfway through the film wasnt to impressed with it (surprising reallying considering she loves tv!! like most kiRAB)
she asked a question to me about the film and the women in front was so quick to turn around and give "evils" i was shocked. (p.s. i told me niece that she should be silent and ask questions later)

about 10mins later a kid behind me started getting a bit upset and the whole family who were sat in front were turning around giving evils!

i understand that you dont take kiRAB to adult films but when its a chilRAB film you cant expect a child to be totally silent throughout.
 
Iwill very likely never go to the cinema again.

The last time I went to the flicks was to see Dances with Wolves when it was first doing the rounRAB. It was at a large cinema in the Fulham Road London.

At the start of the film 2 people sat down in front of me. Both of them had a huge bucket of popcorn each, a hot dog and what was very likely an enormous container of coca cola. They proceeded to stuff themselves through out the first 30 mins of the film. The smell of melted butter, greasy sausage and mustard was awful. For the remainder of the film they either talked or went to the toilet and back - I assume thats where they were going.

What upset me most was the lack of common courtesy and respect that these 2 individuals had for the people around them. I use to go to the cinema to WATCH a film and not stuff my face with all manner of junk food. Why can't people eat before or after?

Now, Dances with Wolves is not exactly a children's film so there was were no kiddies running amok and this was before the mobile phone revolution. What a cinema visit is like now does not bear thinking about.

My Son is a frequent cinema visitor and has told me that all too often mobile phones are always going off. Mind you at my local cinema in Putney the staff will apparently throw anyone out making a nuisience. No second chance too. If you are caught you are out and thats how it should be.
