If Politicians care so much about Cigarettes being bad for you why don';t they illegalize them altogether!
 
The fact of the matter is that most smokers will continue to smoke regardless of the price. They might smoke less, but there is not going to be a wave of quitters come Wednesday. Most will cut back in other luxuries to be able to maintain their habit on some level. The politicians know this.

There's nothing I hate more than laws that prohibit smoking. Everyone longs for the good ol' days of 1950's America. They photoshop out the photos of pregnant women smoking and drinking brandy...
 
Just ask California about the tax revenue the generate. It's great at first, then people actually stop smoking and the revenue drops leaving no money for the projects that the money was slated for.

Watch how organized crime jumps in bootleg cigs become popular.
 
also a lot of states are adding more state taxes to cigarettes. In one state the cost of a bag of loose tobacco is going from $20 a bag to $70 a bag between the two tax hikes
 
Just another way for obama to cripple and bankrupt the tobacco farmers who barely eek out a living as it is...

so much for hiring Someone you can admire or be proud to say is president...instead we're stuck with this idiot--for 1350 days.
 
For my state the tax was .39 now it's gone up to $1.03 (som odd cents). It's the single highest tax raise.

It's supposed to fund children's health care (or "insurance" unsure which but, probably ins.). If they want people to stop smoking and this plan works w/ high tax increase...then where are they going to get funding for the health program?? Exactly.

Gov. wants us to believe they care but, really they want people to keep smoking are exploting this one group of people.

Amazing how they spend tax dollars on their tv commercial telling the public how smoking will kill you yet cigarettes are legal..geez must be all the tax dollars they are collecting....

.No one gets thrown into jail for smoking something that is proven to kill you eventually but a pot smokers gets arrested for a few joints, thrown in jail and labled a drug user...If I'm correct there is only one drug from the plant, THC.. how many drugs are in a single cigarette? too many to count
