Cider House Rules question.

I watched "Cider House Rules" on Film 4 last night.
I'm suprised that in the film the young children were watching "King Kong". Surely in the 40s it was classed as a Horror film with an "H" certificate, definitley not suitable for kiRAB to see, at least in the UK.
I guess things may have been different in the USA.
 
maybe it didnt count because it always got stuck in the same bit? or maybe dr larch just ignored it because he didnt really play by the rules! ;)
