way to say something without really saying anything at all.

fact of the matter is, if you base intelligence on IQ or test scores/grades, you'll find that a certain percentage of the most intelligent people do, in fact, join the military.

So you really have no point.

Sorry, wasn't sure how to spell it, so I just copied the person who I was quoting...yet you both jump on me about the misspelling

I agree with you that people of all levels of intelligence join the military, but the argument was that "the smartest young people are joining the military". "The smartest young people" doesn't include morons that make up the lower rungs included in "all levels of intelligence."

As for not being able to prove that intelligent people don't want to die...I guess you're right, so we'll just have to agree to disagree there. You think intelligent people want to die, I think they don't.

"This topic brings me to that worst outcrop of the herd nature, the military system, which I abhor. That a man can take pleasure in marching in formation to the strains of a band is enough to make me despise him. He has only been given his big brain by mistake; a backbone was all he needed. This plague-spot of civilization ought to be abolished with all possible speed. Heroism by order, senseless violence, and all the pestilent nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism — how I hate them! War seems to me a mean, contemptible thing: I would rather be hacked in pieces than take part in such an abominable business."

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilisation should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

-Albert Einstein

I'm not saying there aren't intelligent people in the military. Just that the most intelligent typically aren't found in the military. Which really isn't a slight or anything. They don't need to be in the military. Especially since most of the weapons designs are done privately.

ok so we're in agreement. some of the most intelligent are in a military. a majority aren't. case closed, detective.

I don't know what sickens me more,

Soldiers begging for praise or soldiers drinking up that praise like it was the elixir of life

Just as I'm sure your schoolyard antics show the utmost level of intellectual high ground.

The same way your anecdotal evidence doesn't qualify as valid evidence of your claims?

some of them are, as well as some of the biggest retards and people of average intelligence.
