Which Christmas specials/movies do you think deserve more attention? Your own "misfit specials", if you will.
I'm not going to lie. I actually think that GoodTimes' 1998 Rudolph movie (that one with Whoopi Goldberg as the ice queen) is pretty good. It's not overwhelmingly original, but it has a couple interesting little quirks to it. For instance, Rudolph's nose is the result of an accident, not a birth defect; fairies are involved at various points; the antagonist is an ice queen who blocks off the only bridge leading out of the North Pole; and along the way, Rudolph meets an Arctic fox and polar bear who help him. They seemed to be trying for an alternate-universe take on the Rudolph story, and I think they pulled it off for the most part.
Also, I think that It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown gets major Brownie Charles points for incorporating the Peggy Jean story alone. Even though it's just a bunch of strips spliced together, it's still some of Schulz' best Christmas strips. (Still, I wouldn't mind seeing a whole Christmas special that was an adaptation expansion of the Peggy Jean arc.)
