Christmas Dinner - Is this weird or rude?

The mom of one of my little sister's friends invited my family over for Christmas dinner.

I have never met anyone from the family that invited us.

Since it is a sit-down dinner, I don't really feel comfortable going. Is it weird (or rude) if I stay home?
I don't know if this matters, but my sister is 11 and I am 18.
My whole family is going - but my whole family just consists of my mom and little sister.
 
That's a bit strange ? I would just go and have a memory , it could be something different
 
Its not rude but maybe make like a salad and get your mom to give it to her mom to show that you respect her invite.
