...since sexual orientation is a matter of choice...

(This question is only directed at Christians who believe that sexual orientation is a matter of choice. I am aware that many Christians do not ascribe to this position.)

The first time I saw Kim Briscoe sitting at the diner in Baltimore MD. I fell in love with her from day one. When we got together and I lost my virginity to her, I knew than I was attractive to women. Plus to me, we men have ugly bodies. I love the looks of a woman. I tell people all the time, if I was a woman, I would be gay.

I don't believe sexuality is determined at birth and nor do I believe it is a matter of choice. Sexuality is like a blank slate and impressions are made at young ages that shape what attracts us or turns us on. Saying that it is merely a choice is rediculous, saying that it is pre-determined at birth is a good excuse for people living alternative lifestyles "if" it can be proven. Unfortunetly those who run tests on such things ussually have a bit of an agenda going into it.

Now, acting out sexually is a choice. We cannot control what we are attracted to, but we can control what we're going to do about it, unless we're forced(rape).

Just some stuff for you to chew on.

hhhmmm !!

Well i dont believe entirely that sexual orientation is always and totally a matter of choice, as there have been people born with both genitals and stuff like that so who made the choice for those poor people..?

There are also people who were born with more female hormones and more complex things and they have had sex changes and married and felt 'normal' after that (if you know what i mean ?)

I dont agree with the openly gay/lesbia peopel who flaunt their sexuality - but then idont agree with hetrosexual people who do that either..

erm think i'll stop there cos i aint any good at explaining what i mean ...!!

In my view I believe there is more than one reason, factor, and/ or genesis for the internal experience of homosexuality in a human body. Homosexuality arises in a variety of ways. Choosing to engage in sexual activity with a person of the same gender may be something that a person does with or without a homosexual orientation, by the way.

Homosexuality is a chain, a captivity and a separation from God, and a lack of full potential for the child of God. However, I do not orient homosexually, so I will also admit that I cannot speak from experience and I will allow others to speak their experience and I am willing to accept it from them. This is what I observe from the struggles of others, a few close to me, that homosexuality (or indulging in the drives of homosexuality or any unclean sexual drive) does not lead to inner peace.

Where the choice comes in, is how one chooses to handle their homosexuality. Most likely, the struggle was not chosen. There is so much struggle in this life we don't choose, at least not explicity. But we all have to deal. And enlightening our sexuality (not just homosexuality, but all of us) is just one struggle we ALL have. I don't know anyone who has sexuality figured out.

Sexual attraction is a complex psychobiological phenomenon. However, I do believe that gender is eternal. That is, I have always been and always will be female even in the cosmic aspect of myself. I also believe that the fusion of the male and female is also eternal. That is, males and females are to become One, including individual males and females, and including in the sexual realm, is the cosmic order. There are constant breakdowns in cosmic order in this mortal existence -- sexuality is not immune. The fact that homosexuality is a huge signal in mortality right now is an opportunity for us to learn more about sexuality and understand and experience its full potential.

By the way, just in general, may or may not apply to homosexuality -- just because something is not something that was chosen doesn't mean it is right. There are lots of things that people don't choose that are full of captivity (and therefore "wrong"). For example, genetic disposition to the disease of alcoholism; and being born into the Mafia. We still expect people to choose their way out of these situations into the right and the light (the struggle!). Why? In order to experience safety, freedom, peace and joy.
