Christians riddle me this?

Christians in Genesis Chapter 1 verse 26 God said let us make Man in OUR image and after OUR likeness, In Genesis chapter 3 verse 26 God said behold the man has become one of US. Who is the US refered to in the bible?

The word used in Genesis 1:26 is "Elohim" which is translated as "plural, more than two"...Many scholars accept this as the first reference to the trinity in scripture.

As far as understanding the trinity, Apostle Paul by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote this in the New Testament:

Col 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

I can riddle you this: The word "mystery" occurs 22 times in KJV New Testament...I have never met a Christian PREACHER who claims to have ALL the answers; and if they make such claims, they're obviously snake oil salesmen.

Do you understand completely how an automatic transmission works, or just put your car in gear and go?

In Him,
John the Baptist

So...everyone is saying that Jesus existed at the beginning of time and that the holy spirit (that was created when Jesus died on the cross/resurrected) also existed at the beginning of time?

This is a major point that Christians disagree on. I guess they need another meeting to discuss what's really going on in their religion since they obviously don't know.

Wellll, Gospel of John starts out "in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and was God" which is usually a reference to God the Son (aka Jesus Christ)..... so some people believe in a dual God but most christians adhere to the Trinity theory, believing that god is three in one and one in three, ...

of course, there has to be two or three, cuz as you point out, it says, "us", and obviously if Jesus was running around on earth for 33 years, he couldn't have vacated heaven and left everything to run itself, sooooo...

however, if you ask any Christian, "are you a monotheist?" they'll say "sure" (assuming they aren't in some backwater where they only use 1 syllable words....) but then you say, well, you have THREE gods, it would seem and then you are stuck w/ the notion that it's just one of those "unknowable" things that we humans (despite being made in god's image) just can't comprehend in this lifetime.

as a christian myself, this annoys the bejeebers outta me, cuz then you kinda get all mysterious and you might as well be a Zen Buddhist and sit around wondering about the sound of one hand clapping, etc... :)

hope that helps!

It is not because it's the Trinity. Genesis is a story inherited from Judaism. The Jews believed that their God was ONE and INDIVISIBLE. They question the idea as polytheistic in nature.

Rather that is the result of one or both things Their faith comes from Abraham who came from Mesopotamia, a polytheistic civilization. They wanted to break away from that custom, and preferred to worship one god, even though they acknowledged other gods (if you read the Exodus stories and the First Commandment carefully, you will notice this) . Eventually, this god would come to be known as the only god. Google henotheism and the bible for more information.

Secondly, there is a word in Hebrew, Elohim I believe, which means God, but is treated as plural depending on the context.
