The book of Leviticus says that when a woman is menstruating she is ceremonially unclean and that she is unclean for 7 days. It says if a man lies where she has laid or if he sits where she has sat then he is too unclean. It also says that when a woman gives birth to a baby girl she is unclean for two weeks and can't come back to the church until 66 days after the birth. It says if a woman has a baby boy then she is unclean for just one week and can't come back to church for 33 days. I don't understand why those rules were and why if she had a girl she was unclean longer. It also states that if a man ejaculates he is unclean but I don't remember how long. I am a Christian and 15 years old by the way and was wondering if any of you know why the rules were like that. I understand that it's the old testament and they no longer apply but I was just wondering why they were there. Thanks for your help. I will select best answer.
