I'm always suspicious of "former atheists" who say they were exactly like the religious stereotype of atheists. The atheists I know in real life don't fit the stereotype at all, and I seriously doubt that this guy was actually an atheist. I think he found a way to capitalize on the willingness of fundamentalists to pay good money to be told what they want to hear.
