Christian Jesus Metal

that's just it, in the middle ages people didn't question the authority of the church and the bible. it's what it was called. to try to quantify it by todays standard IS folly but it doesn't change the fact that it's what it was called in those days.

to be evil doesn't have to be from satan. it only has to go against the socially accepted view of what is good. those who controlled the whims of society are the ones who get to chose how to describe the various elements of their society.

it's got nothing to do with the bible having sound or a lack thereof.

I think what stops people from liking christian music is there's a horrible aesthetic to most of it where it's kind of watered-down and mediocre music in itself but the message is very prominent and delivered in an almost un-ignorable manner. This is why I can't stand some of Bob Dylan's religious stuff, I mean the music itself is some of his best but the overtly cheesy religious themes are undeniable and its bothering. But on the other hand some of the most beautiful lyrics borrow the bible's imagery like Hallelujah for instance.

Well, I was arguing from the standpoint that other Christians tell me that listening to music with satanic lyrics is bad and it is evil music, as in sinful and going against God. I am not trying to convince secular people so much as Christians. Secular people have nothing to worry about and can 100% free think things and accept what they want. Secular, as in being not of a religion.

There was a band in the late 60s / early 70s called Black Widow who took things much further than Sabbath ever did regarding satanic imagery.

In fact they used to do a mock sacrifice of a nude woman on stage every night.

I'm disappointed with the satanism so frequent among rab metal fans. Not that I'm into religion or anything, but all this 666 skull & crossbone devil worship business, along with the anger and implied violence, is starting to make me queasy.

Why are metal fans so often taken up with satan worship, pentagrams and general dark imagery? What's wrong with something like:

In sum, why has metal been hijacked by the excessively bleak and morbid?

well i'm sure hardcore christian fundamentalists enjoy the argument as much as you enjoy hearing them tell you you're going to hell for listening to metal. i'm gonna go listen to some sabbath now.

YIKESSSSSSSSS I GUESS ID BETTER CUT IT OUT... i suppose to fix my homophobic remark i will say christian metal is false, and it creates false metal posers! I value this forum so much, i couldnt stand getting banned.. thanks!

Pentagrams are nothing to do with devil worship. It is an ancient pagan syrabol. Most so-called 'satanic' banRAB are more interested in the power of nature and reject organised religion, such as christianity.

If its good music, its good music. I wouldn't turn my nose up just because its got Christian lyrical content. I can't really say I've heard any "good" Christian metal, but I'm sure its out there. I've heard some Christian Metalcore banRAB in the past that were decent for metalcore. I know thats not saying much, but its come a long way since Stryper.

Yeah, I haven't had too much trouble with them lately. It is usually them giving a bad name for secular music in general and me stepping in saying, "Hey...wait a second."

If this was aimed at me I never said there was. I just said when the lyrical delivery of cheesy religious themes takes priority over the music and it's very difficult to ignore I can't stand it. That's why I dislike most of Bob Dylan's religious music. I mean it being his typical 80s stuff (bad) aside, his lyrics took a turn for the worst and the whole album reeks of Christianity and there's no way it can be dismissed as just "Christian undertones."

Are you suggesting metal and its fans have always been like that? I mean, what about in the early days, NWOBHM and so forth. That wasn't all through-and-through morbid, satanic and evil.
