Choosing a bicycle: Which one to get?

Im looking for an all-around bike for road and mild-terrain. I found two options within my price range, which is around $300. They are the Giant Boulder and the Specialized Hardrock. If anyone can tell me or give me any advice on which one to get, your help would be greatly appreciated.
Im about 5"7 or 5"8. I weigh about 125 pounds. Thank you. Also, please, if you can, tell me any cons and pros on both, as they may help on my choice.
 
My dad and friend both own a giant boulder they are good but if i was a harder rider or someone who rides a lot i would recommend the giant rincon or yukon. They are made better, stronger and more comfortable.
