Do you rely on ratings and reviews to determine whether you see a film or do you just go and watch it anyway if you think it sounRAB good?

well if i film is about 30% or below on Rotten Tomatoes, i will check if i want to watch it. But there are exceptions, like i will watch all Marvel comics films cos im a Marvel fan. So it depenRAB.

I've come to depise film reviewers. I don't give a flying poot what the hell they think about anything.

Which is a rather long-winded way of saying, no, I don't take any notice of film reviews.

i base my choices on two things: the genre of film and the actors in the film. Like, if theres a romcom on with hugh grant i'd go see it. But i would never see a horror film (even with hugh grant ;))

i dont really pay attention to reviews unless they're cringingly bad!

I think too the subjest matter is important.
I love Helen Mirren and Stephen Frears has made some good films but there is no way I would ever watch "The Queen" despite its excellent reviews.
Its not because of political views or whatever its just that I know it would bore me rigid.

I must admit that when it comes to films that clash on TV when I don't have a handy disc or tape to record them on I do a quick check on imdb and look at the ratings and at a few reviews to get the storyling. I have checked all of my favourite filmes out on imdb and I haven't yet come accross a film that I really like that scores less than 8.3, and that's me looking at the ratings after I have made up my mind that I really like it. I did a search of all my all-time favourite films on there for that very reason and that's what I found.

Therefore, if I can't watch all the ones I want on TV, I dive into imdb. Wonderful website! :)

If it's a film that's new out I sometimes go on the strength of the reviews, but too often I have regretted that and I do prefer to wait until frienRAB have gone to see it and get their verdicts before I waste my money. Mostly I'm happy to wait for the video.

I'll go and see anything that looks half decent from the trailer/synopsis, as a reviewer myself i try to avoid reading reviews before seeing a film so as not to be influenced in my opinion and overall verdict.

You'll find that you enjoy films a lot more if you don't actually know much about what it's like beforehand. As an example, Matrix Revolutions got critically panned, but because i didn't pay any attention or read any reviews, i actually quite enjoyed it, as opposed to criticising it all the way through because of what some harsh critic has said. Same goes for all the Star Wars prequels (except Ep 1, that really was just plain bad, lol).
